Seton Hall returns to action this week for another pair of BIG EAST Conference matches. The Hall will host rival Marquette on Friday, Oct. 25 at Walsh Gymnasium at 5:00 p.m. The next day, the Pirates will welcome No. 6 Creighton to South Orange. That one begins at 6:00 p.m.

SCOUTING MARQUETTE
Historically, Seton Hall has been dominated by Marquette with the Golden Eagles having won 24 of the 29 all-time meetings. Marquette has won 15 consecutive matches against the Pirates with Seton Hall's last victory coming during the 2014 season.

Marquette was favored to finish second this season, earning one first-place vote and amassing 91 points. Â The Golden Eagles boasted a 21-11 overall record last season, highlighted by a 16-2 mark in BIG EAST competition. Â Following a semifinal departure from the BIG EAST Championship, Marquette earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, winning via straight sets in the first round over Eastern Illinois. Â

Yadhira Anchante, Hattie Bray, Aubrey Hamilton and Carsen Murray were all named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.Â

Marquette is currently the top team receiving votes outside of the AVCA Top-25. They enter the weekend with an 11-6 overall record and a 7-1 mark in BIG EAST Conference play. The Golden Eagles have won five in a row and are coming off a sweep of Xavier and a five-set victory over DePaul last weekend. Their lone conference loss came on Oct. 1 in four sets at Creighton.

SCOUTING CREIGHTON
Creighton owns a 19-3 all-time series lead against Seton Hall and has won 18 straight matches. In fact, the Bluejays have been so dominant, they've won 49 consecutive sets. Prior to this run, The Hall won three straight matches, including a sweep of the regular season in 2014. Creighton got the last laugh, however, that year, defeating Seton Hall in four sets in the BIG EAST Championship match.

The reigning BIG EAST Champions, Creighton, earned all 10 possible first-place votes for 100 points to lead the 2024 BIG EAST Volleyball Preseason Poll. For the third consecutive season, Creighton outside hitter Norah Sis was elected Preseason Player of the Year.

Last season, Creighton owned a 29-5 overall record with a 16-2 mark in conference play. Â Led by head coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth and the BIG EAST Co-Coaching Staff of the Year, the Bluejays captured BIG EAST regular season and championship titles before advancing to their 12th straight NCAA Tournament. Â After earning a first-round bye in the BIG EAST Tournament the 'Jays swept DePaul and St. John's to lock up the squad's fourth Championship title in as many years.

During the NCAA tournament, Creighton returned to the national round of sixteen for the first time since 2016, knocking off Colgate (W, 3-0) and Minnesota (W, 3-0) without relinquishing a set. Â The Bluejay's season ended in a hard-fought 2-3 loss to #7 Louisville in the NCAA Regional Semifinals.

So far this season, the Bluejays have played up to expectations. They enter the weekend as the No. 6 ranked team in the country and having won 10 straight matches. Currently, they're 17-2 overall and a perfect 8-0 in BIG EAST play. Their only losses came in five sets at No. 5 Nebraska, and in five sets at No. 4 Louisville.

Next week, The Hall will return to the road for a pair of BIG EAST Conference matches. On Friday, Nov. 1, Seton Hall will travel to Chicago for an 8:00 p.m. match at DePaul. On Sunday, Nov. 3, the Pirates will head to Cincinnati for a 1:00 p.m. match at Xavier.

- On Monday, junior Asli Subasili was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after leading the conference with 1.86 blocks per set last week.
- On Oct. 5 at UConn, Perri Lucas became only the 12th player in Seton Hall history to reach the milestone of 1,000 kills for her career. At Butler on Friday, she broke into Seton Hall's career top-10.
- Against Butler on Oct. 18, Maddie Klungel collected her 2,000th career assist.
Seton Hall currently ranks third in the BIG EAST with 15.68 digs per set.
The Pirates are currently third in the conference with 1.67 service aces per set. - The Pirates have two players that rank in the BIG EAST top-10 in service aces per set Asli Subasili is third with 0.43 aces per set, while Jenna Walsh is 10th at 0.33 per set.
- The Hall closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 6-5 record.
- Reagan Merk and Maddie Klungel have collected a team-high seven double-doubles this season.
- Maddie Klungel ranks seventh in the BIG EAST with 7.61 assists per set. She has now topped 30 assists in nine straight matches.
