Seventeen Pirates Named All-BIG EAST

NEW YORK – Seventeen members of the Seton Hall men's swimming and diving team received All-BIG EAST honors stemming from their performance at the 2024 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships. In order to achieve All-BIG EAST status, competitors must finish in the top three in any individual or relay event at the BIG EAST Championships.
Of the 17 honorees, 11 were on the men's team and six represented the women's squad. Eight of the honorees achieved All-BIG EAST status in multiple events. Michael Klimaszewski (London, England) garnered the most accolades for the men's team, finishing in the top-three in five total events. This included his victory in the 100 Fly which came in a school record time of 46.47. Allie Waggoner (Moorestown, N.J.) earned the most All-BIG EAST distinctions on the women's side thanks to her wins in the 500 Free and 1650 Free as well as her third-place finish in the 400 IM.
Other multi-event honorees included Silvia Alessio (Trieste, Italy), who captured the top spot in the 3-meter dive. Her score of 337.50 was not only a new Seton Hall record, but it also took down the BIG EAST record in the event. Two days prior, Alessio took home the silver medal on the 1-meter boards.
Toma Adam (Bacau, Romania) and Kevin Cary (West Chester, Pa.) each picked up top-three finishes in three events. Adam finished third in the 50 Free final with a time of 20.28, while Cary's individual top-three finish came in the 200 Free. Each also swam as part of relay teams that earned medals, with Adam taking part in the 200 Medley Relay and Cary in the 400 Medley Relay. Each also swam as part of the 400 Free Relay squad which finished second.
