
Pirates Stay Local for Princeton Invite this Weekend

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's golf team will return to tournament action this weekend for three rounds of golf at the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club, Oct. 4-5.

THE COURSE
Dating back to 1895, Springdale Golf Club is one of the oldest in New Jersey. Designed by Gerard Lambert and revised by William Flynn in 1926, the walkable course requires precision shot-making and has superior conditions and playability. The property, which was originally private farmland, was purchased by the Class of 1886 and gifted to Princeton University with the expectation of establishing one of the first courses in the region. The private club has a close relationship with the University, and counts many university professors, administrators and students among its members.  With a fine and experienced PGA staff, the club hosts numerous tournaments, collegiate matches, clinics and golf outings every year.Â

THE FIELD
In addition to Seton Hall and host Princeton, the field is comprised of 11 other teams including: Albany, Boston University, Columbia, Dartmouth, FDU, Harvard, Pennsylvania Rutgers-Newark and Yale. Also joining the field are two BIG EAST opponents: Georgetown and St. John's.

THE FORMAT
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

Junior Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) shot a 4-over-par, 76, in the final round to lead the Seton Hall women's golf team at the Nittany Lion Invitational. Rane had two birdies and 10 pars to fuel her team-best final round. For the tournament, she tied for 41st place with a 13-over-par, 81-72-76-229.

As a team, The Hall turned in its best collective round of the tournament in round three. The Pirates shot a 19-over-par, 307. For the two-day event, Seton Hall placed 16th with a 74-over-par, 318-313-307-938. Host Penn State won the team title at 14-over-par.Â

LAST TIME AT PRINCETON
Amelie Gras shot a 3-over-par, 74, in the final round of the 2024 Princeton Invitational to help lift the Seton Hall women's golf team to an eighth-place finish. Gras had two birdies and 11 pars to fuel her third-round effort. For the tournament, she tied for 17th place with a 14-over-par, 80-73-74-227.

As a team, The Hall shot a 16-over-par, 300, in round three. Seton Hall finished eighth with a 58-over-par, 314-296-300-910 despite wet conditions throughout the tournament. Host Princeton won the team title by a remarkable 30 strokes at 11-over-par.

The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The field will play two continuous rounds. On Sunday, the field will play one final round, also with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
