
Aguilar Leads Seton Hall in Day 1 at Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – Sophomore Marta Aguliar (Casares Malaga, Spain) is 3-over-par after two rounds of the Princeton Invitational to lead the Seton Hall women's golf team on Saturday.

Aguilar shot a solid 3-over-par, 74, in round one, but had a birdie and 16 pars to fuel an even-par, 71, in round two. For the tournament, she's tied for seventh place among 79 individual golfers with a 3-over-par, 74-71-145. Penn's Mi Li leads the individual field at 3-under-par with 18 holes remaining.

As a team, The Hall shot a 38-over-par, 322, in the morning, but shaved 14 strokes off their score for a 24-over-par, 308, in the afternoon. After 36 holes, the Pirates are in 13th place with a 62-over-par, 322-308-630. Host Princeton leads the field at 4-over-par. BIG EAST competitors St. John's and Georgetown are 20-over-par and 28-over-par, respectively.

Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) shot a 9-over-par, 80, in the first round, but was able to shave off three strokes in the second round. In the afternoon, she had two birdies in route to a 6-over-par, 77. For the tournament, she's 15-over-par with an 80-77-157.

After a rough 16-over-par, 87, in round one, junior Rane Rane (New Delhi, India) had three birdies on her way to a 6-over-par, 77, in round two. For the tournament, she is 22-over-par with an 87-77-164.

Junior Kasumi Tran (Swansea, Wales) had a 13-over-par, 84, in round one, followed by a 12-over-par, 83, in round two. She's currently 25-over-par with an 84-83-167.

Rounding out the Pirates' lineup, freshman Isabella Stewart (Wicklow, Ireland) had a 13-over-par, 84, in round one, followed by a 17-over-par, 88, in round two. She's currently 30-over-par with an 84-88-172.

THE COURSE
Dating back to 1895, Springdale Golf Club is one of the oldest in New Jersey. Designed by Gerard Lambert and revised by William Flynn in 1926, the walkable course requires precision shot-making and has superior conditions and playability. The property, which was originally private farmland, was purchased by the Class of 1886 and gifted to Princeton University with the expectation of establishing one of the first courses in the region. The private club has a close relationship with the University, and counts many university professors, administrators and students among its members.  With a fine and experienced PGA staff, the club hosts numerous tournaments, collegiate matches, clinics and golf outings every year.Â

In addition to Seton Hall and host Princeton, the field is comprised of 11 other teams including: Albany, Boston University, Columbia, Dartmouth, FDU, Harvard, Pennsylvania Rutgers-Newark and Yale. Also joining the field are two BIG EAST opponents: Georgetown and St. John's.

Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The field will play two continuous rounds. On Sunday, the field will play one final round, also with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
