CHICAGO – Sophomore Gwen Adler (Barrington, Ill.) had a team-high 16 assists and six digs, but the Seton Hall women's volleyball team fell at DePaul, 3-0 (21-25, 15-25, 17-25), on Friday.

The opening set was the closest of the match featuring 12 ties and five lead changes, but The Hall fell, 25-21, and couldn't recover thereafter.

Freshman Daria Safian (Moscow, Russia) had a team-high six kills to go with three digs and two blocks. Junior Rylee Nelson (Mazeppa, Minn.) collected a team-high 13 digs to go with four assists.

SET 1:
Trailing 7-5 early in set one, The Hall scored three straight, and a kill by Safian gave it an 8-7 lead. Down 15-14, DePaul scored three straight to grab a 17-15 advantage and never trailed again. From there, Seton Hall twice cut its deficit to just one, but DePaul went on to win the opener, 25-21. The Hall had only a .089 attack percentage in the first set.

SET 2:
Down 2-1, DePaul went on a 10-2 run to grab a commanding 11-4 lead and force a Seton Hall time out. An ace by Hanna Labanowska (Olszewnica Stara, Poland) cut The Hall's deficit to 13-7, but the Blue Demons continued to methodically increase the lead and a 7-1 run gave them a 23-12 advantage. A kill by Asli Subasili (Tekirdag, Turkiye) staved off one set point, but DePaul ultimately won, 25-15.

SET 3:
An early kill by Adler gave The Hall a 3-1 lead, but DePaul responded with a 6-1 run to grab a 7-4 advantage. The Pirates cut their deficit to 14-9, but the Blue Demons answered with a 6-1 spurt to extend their lead to 20-10. The Hall scored three in a row, and a kill by Alex Rasmussen (Lincoln, Neb.) made it a 20-13 set, but DePaul recovered and went on to claim a 25-17 third-set victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Safian had six kills, three digs and two blocks.
Adler tallied a team-high 16 assists to go with six digs and three kills.
Nelson had a team-high 13 digs along with four assists.
Labanowska notched four kills and seven digs.
Seton Hall recorded a .058 attack percentage for the match, while DePaul attacked at .296.
The Pirates finished with 25 team kills, while the Blue Demons had 40.
The Hall recorded 42 digs, while the Blue Demons had 49.
Seton Hall collected 4.0 blocks and DePaul had 11.0.

NEWS & NOTES:

Seton Hall drops to 6-18 overall and 0-13 in the BIG EAST, while DePaul improves to 13-11 overall and 6-7 in conference play.
The Pirates fall to 21-11 all-time against DePaul and were swept in the 2025 season series.
The Hall is now 3-7 in three-set matches this season.
