Â

Â
LAST GAME
Freshman Jada Eads (Orlando, Fla.) erupted for a game-high 26 points, but a depleted Seton Hall women's basketball team fell, 68-61, to Marquette in Walsh Gymnasium on Wednesday.
Â
Seton Hall was down several players due to illness, most notably starter Savannah Catalon (Mansfield, Texas).
Â
The key to Seton Hall's victory over Marquette in Milwaukee on Jan. 15 was out-rebounding the Golden Eagles, which was leading the BIG EAST in rebounds at the time. Today, The Hall was out-rebounded, 41-to-28, including 10 of the first 12 rebounding going to Marquette.
Â
Eads had 26 points on 10-for-21 shooting from the field. Graduate student Kaydan Lawson (Cleveland, Ohio), making her first start of the season, had 10 points and three rebounds.
Â
Seton Hall All-Time vs. the Huskies:Â UConn leads, 60-10
Earlier this Year:
#6 Connecticut 96, Seton Hall 36 (F) – January 19, 2025 (Gampel Pavilion)
Â
AGAINST CONNECTICUT
Seton Hall and Connecticut will meet for the second time this season on Wednesday. The Huskies own a commanding 60-10 all-time series lead and have won the last 40 games against the Pirates. Seton Hall is 12-3 at Walsh Gym this season, while Connecticut is 8-2 on the road.
Â
EARLIER THIS YEAR AGAINST CONNECTICUT
Freshman Jada Eads had a team-high 14 points, but the Seton Hall women's basketball team fell at No. 6 Connecticut, 96-36, in Gampel Pavilion on Jan. 19
Â
Even for a team that has become accustomed to winning, emotions were high for Connecticut as Paige Bueckers surpassed 2,000 career points and Aubrey Griffin made her return from a torn ACL after missing well over a year. Add in the fact that the Huskies hadn't played at Gampel Pavilion since Dec. 3, and it was the perfect storm against the Pirates.
Â
Eads had 14 points with four rebounds and four steals. Junior Messiah Hunter (Hopewell, Va.) matched her career-high with seven points to go with three rebounds. Faith Masonius (Spring Lake, N.J.) had eight points and a team-best six rebounds.
Â
SCOUTING CONNECTICUT
The Huskies enter their contest with the Pirates as the No. 4 ranked team in the country with a sparkling 24-3 overall record and a perfect 14-0 mark in conference play. Paige Bueckers ranks third in the BIG EAST in scoring at 18.4 points per game, while Sarah Strong is the favorite to net BIG EAST Freshman of the Year averaging 16.1 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. UConn currently ranks among the nation's top five in field goal percentage, fewest points allowed and fewest turnovers per game.
Â
The Huskies are coming off a statement victory on the road at No. 4 South Carolina, 87-58, on Sunday.
Â
UP NEXT
Seton Hall will return to action on Sunday, Feb. 23 when it makes the short trip to Queens, N.Y. to face long-time local rival St. John's. Tip time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET. The contest will be streamed by the BIG EAST Digital Network and available for FloCollege subscribers. 89.5 FM WSOU or wsou.net will also carry the game.
