NEW BRITAIN, CONN. – Seton Hall women's cross country competed in its biggest race of the season on Saturday at the Ted Owen Invitational, placing sixth overall in the 10-team field with 150 total points.
How it Happened
For Pirates' Honey Strosnider, the Ted Owen Invitational served as another showcase of a runner at her peak. The senior crossed the line as the top Pirate finisher for the third time this season, placing 29th overall. She gained 25 places in total during the race and earned a time of 18:39.10.
Senior Caitlin Fahy ran a similar race to Strosnider, but a slightly slower final mile proved to be the difference. Fahy finished in 32nd place, second on the team, and two seconds slower than Strosnider with a time of 18:41.20. This result extended her streak of meets as a top-three Pirate finisher to eight consecutive meets.
Like the prior two meets this season, junior Paige Quigley completed the familiar Pirate triumvirate by crossing the line as the third Pirate finisher. Quigley crossed the line in 38th, netting 17 places over the course of the race, with a time of 18:56.80.
Laura Castagna and Destiny Lopez rounded out the scoring squad for the Pirates. Castagna crossed the line as the fourth Pirate finisher, 42nd overall, with a time of 19:20.70. Lopez, meanwhile, recorded a time of 19:27.90 while finishing 45th overall.
What's Next
The Pirates will continue their season on Friday, October 3, when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa., to compete in the Paul Short Run.
