
Shah, Hulett Shine on Day 1 at Nemacolin Resort

FARMINGTON, PA. – Junior Eli Shah (Newtown Square, Pa.) is currently 5-under-par and has lifted the Seton Hall men's golf team to a third-place standing after two rounds of the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational on Monday.

Shah had six birdies in a spectacular 4-under-par, 68, first round, and followed it up with a 1-under-par, 71, in round two. He's currently tied for fourth place among 100 individual golfers with a 5-under-par, 68-71-139. West Virginia's Kaleb Wilson is currently the individual leader at 8-under-par with 18 holes remaining.

Shah's performance on Monday are sub-par rounds No. 4 and No. 5 for his career. His first-round, 68, is a career-best.

As a team, The Hall had a 6-under-par, 282, in round one, and followed it with a 9-under-par, 279, in round two. The Pirates are currently in third place with a 15-under-par, 282-279-561. Host West Virginia is the team leader at 21-under-par with 18 holes remaining. James Madison is currently second at 17-under-par, but it didn't complete its second round. The Dukes and three other teams will finish their second round before beginning round three tomorrow.

Seton Hall's 279 in the second round is tied for the seventh-lowest par-72 team round in program history.

Sophomore Luke Nolan (Austin, Texas) shot a pair of 2-under-par, 70's, on Monday. In the morning, he had five birdies and an eagle on the par-5, No. 11, hole. Nolan had four more birdies in the afternoon. Currently, Nolan is tied for eighth with a 4-under-par, 70-70-140. Three of Nolan's five rounds so far this fall have been under-par.

After an even-par, 72, in round one, senior David Lally (Wicklow, Ireland) had six birdies and 10 pars to fuel a 3-under-par, 69, in round two. He's currently tied for 14th with a 3-under-par, 72-69-141.Â

Graduate student George Fricker (Woodbridge, England) had an even-par, 72, in the morning, and used two birdies and 15 pars to fuel a 1-under-par, 71, in the afternoon. Fricker is currently tied for 22nd with a 1-under-par, 72-71-143.

Remarkably, freshman Will Hennessee (Tulsa, Okla.) was the fifth Seton Hall golfer to shoot under par in round two. After opening with a 5-over-par, 77, he shaved off eight strokes in the afternoon for a 3-under-par, 69. Hennessee also collected an eagle on Monday. His came on the par-5, No. 5 hole. For the tournament, he's tied for 41st place with a 2-over-par, 77-69-146.

Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

THE SCHEDULE:
The teams will play two continuous rounds on Monday beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. A final round will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

Four additional Pirates are playing in the Shepherd's Rock Individual, which is also being held at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.  Freshman Jace Hulett (Boerne, Texas) is the current leader in the clubhouse after two rounds and leads the field by one stroke entering Tuesday's final round. After a first-round 1-over-par, 73, in the morning, Hulett had six birdies and an eagle on the par-5, No. 13 hole, in round two to fuel a remarkable 7-under-par, 65. It ties Seton Hall's par-72, single-round record, and is only the fifth 7-under-par, 65, in program history.

Junior Isaiah Williams (Flemington, N.J.) shot an even-par, 72, in round one, and used four birdies to fuel a 2-under-par, 70, in round two. Entering Tuesday's final round, he's in fifth place with a 2-under-par, 72-70-142.

Freshman Blake Goodnight (Dallas, Texas) had a tremendous first round, using seven birdies to power a 3-under-par, 69, in round one. After a 5-over-par, 77, in round two, he's currently tied for eighth place with a 2-over-par, 69-77-146.

Senior Jack Bosworth (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) is currently tied for 17th place with a 7-over-par, 77-74-151.
