LAST GAME
Three Pirates scored at least 20 points and the Seton Hall women's basketball team outlasted a pesky DePaul squad, 86-77, on the road on Saturday.
Â
The game was a shootout from the start with both teams finishing the game shooting better than 47 percent from the floor. Ultimately, the Pirates were able to outlast the Blue Demons, shooting 50 percent in the second half to pull away. The Pirates had to play the majority of the game without point guard Jada Eads (Orlando, Fla.) who was lost just 2:42 into the game with an injury.
Â
Junior Savannah Catalon (Mansfield, Texas) finished with a game-high 24 points with four rebounds, three assists and two steals.Â
Â
Jordana Codio (Winter Garden, Fla.) and Zahara Bishop (Minneapolis, Minn.) each poured in a career-high in scoring. Codio had 22 points to go with six rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals, while Bishop finished with 21 points on an efficient 8-for-10 shooting.
Â
Seton Hall All-Time vs. the Friars:Â Seton Hall leads, 49-31
Earlier This Year:Â
Seton Hall 58, Providence 48 (F) – Jan. 8, 2026 (Alumni Hall)
Â
AGAINST PROVIDENCE
Seton Hall and Providence will meet up for the second time in 13 days on Tuesday. The Pirates own a 49-31 all-time series lead and have dominated the matchup in recent years. The Hall has won four in a row against the Friars and 12 of the last 13 games. The only loss during that period was a 51-46 victory for Providence on Dec. 20, 2023 in Walsh Gym.
Â
EARLIER THIS YEAR AGAINST PROVIDENCE
Four players reached double-figures in scoring and the Seton Hall women's basketball team overcame a 10-point deficit to defeat Providence, 58-48, on Jan. 8.
Â
After an offensively forgettable first half, which featured both teams shooting under 24 percent from the field, the Pirates found their rhythm in the third quarter. The Hall took its first lead of the game with 4:22 left in the third and never trailed again, outscoring Providence, 40-to-25, in the second half.
Â
Senior Jordana Codio (Winter Garden, Fla.) had a game-high 17 points and four steals to lead the Pirates. Shailyn Pinkney (East Hartford, Conn.) finished with 14 points, Zahara Bishop (Minneapolis, Minn.) had 10 points and Mariana Valenzuela (Mazatlan, Mexico) finished one rebound shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Â
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
Providence enters Tuesday's contest with a 10-10 record overall and a 3-6 mark in BIG EAST play. Since last playing the Pirates 13 days earlier, the Friars were blown out by Villanova, lost by 10 at Butler, and most recently, edged Creighton, 80-77, on Saturday. Sabou Gueye continues to lead Providence in scoring with 14.2 points per game. She was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
