LAST GAME
With five players marked as "out" to start the game, the undermanned Seton Hall women's basketball team couldn't bounce back from a nightmarish second quarter and fell to Villanova, 82-52, in Walsh Gymnasium on Thursday.
Â
The game was lost for the Pirates in the second frame as Villanova out-scored The Hall 21-6 and held them without a made field goal for the final 8:46 before halftime. Villanova's Jasmine Bascoe scored 22 points in the first half, matching Seton Hall's team total in the first 20 minutes.
Â
In a season already laden with injuries, the Pirates were bit again as starting point guard Natalia Hall-Rosa (Randolph, Mass.) left late in the game with an apparent hand injury. Hall-Rosa was the fourth starting point guard Seton Hall has utilized this season. Freshman Zahara Bishop (Minneapolis, Minn.) had a team-high 19 points to go with five rebounds. Junior Savannah Catalon (Mansfield, Texas) logged 14 points and five rebounds. Hall-Rosa picked up career-highs of nine points, five rebounds and four assists before leaving the game for good in the fourth quarter.
Â
Seton Hall All-Time vs. the Bulldogs:Â Seton Hall leads, 19-6
Earlier This Season:Â

Â
AGAINST BUTLER
Seton Hall and Butler opened the BIG EAST portions of their schedules against one another way back on Dec. 4, and now they'll finish each other's regular season schedules. Seton Hall has largely dominated the all-time series, owning a 20-6 all-time record and having won 14 of the last 15 games in the series. The Hall has won its last two games in Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Â
EARLIER THIS YEAR AGAINST BUTLER
Graduate student Mariana Valenzuela (Mazatlan, Mexico) erupted or career-highs of 25 points and 13 rebounds to lift the Seton Hall women's basketball team to a 70-51 victory over Butler in the BIG EAST opener for both teams on Dec. 4.
Â
Leading by eight over a pesky Butler team that refused to relent for the first three quarters, The Hall opened the fourth with a game-changing 15-2 run to pull away.Â
Â
Valenzuela turned in a career-best performance with 25 points on an efficient 11-for-15 shooting to go with 13 rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks. Junior Savannah Catalon (Mansfield, Texas) had 16 points, nine of which came in the fourth quarter. She was 4-for-5 from three-point range.
Â
SCOUTING BUTLER
Butler enters its Sunday contest with an 11-18 record overall and a 5-14 mark in BIG EAST play. They're currently in eighth place in the standings and will play in the first round of next week's BIG EAST Tournament. The Bulldogs had lost seven in a row, but enter the final game of the regular season having won two straight. On Feb. 21, they won at Georgetown, 66-58, and they're coming off a 71-64 victory at DePaul on Wednesday. No player is currently averaging in double-figures in scoring for the Bulldogs, but nine players are averaging between 9.5 points and 5.8 points per game.
