The Hall Heads to Princeton, Friday

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's golf team will return to tournament action this weekend for three rounds of golf at the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club, Sept. 25-26.

The event was originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, but due to heavy rain in the forecast, the tournament will be played with two rounds on Friday and as much of a third round as possible on Saturday.

THE COURSE
Dating back to 1895, Springdale Golf Club is one of the oldest in New Jersey. Designed by Gerard Lambert and revised by William Flynn in 1926, the walkable course requires precision shot-making and has superior conditions and playability. The property, which was originally private farmland, was purchased by the Class of 1886 and gifted to Princeton University with the expectation of establishing one of the first courses in the region. The private club has a close relationship with the University, and counts many university professors, administrators and students among its members. With a fine and experienced PGA staff, the club hosts numerous tournaments, collegiate matches, clinics and golf outings every year.

THE FIELD
In addition to Seton Hall and host Princeton, the field is comprised of 11 other teams including: Albany, Boston University, Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, Pennsylvania Rutgers-Newark and Yale. Also joining the field are two BIG EAST opponents: Georgetown and St. John's.

THE FORMAT
Teams will play six golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

LAST TIME OUT
Junior Marta Aguilar (Casares Malaga, Spain) shot a 1-over-par, 73, in round three to win the individual title of the Charge at Quail Valley and lead Seton Hall women's golf team to its first team victory in the head coach Jackie Mullens era on Sept. 15. Aguilar was brilliant again in round three, using two birdies and 13 pars to fuel a 1-over-par, 73. For the tournament, she carded a 1-over-par, 72-72-73-217, to claim the individual title by five strokes over Lehigh's Lilly Riegger, who placed second.

As a team, Seton Hall surprisingly had its worst round of the tournament in round three, but was able to hold on for the team victory. The Hall shot a 12-over-par, 300, in round three, which was only fourth-best in the field. Entering today's final round, The Hall had a five-stroke lead on St. John's, but the Red Storm were 24-over-par today and faded quickly. For the tournament, Seton Hall finished at 25-over-par with a 297-292-300-889, two strokes ahead of second-place Lehigh. St. John's placed fourth at 17 strokes behind the Pirates. It's Seton Hall's first team championship since winning the UAlbany Invitational on Oct. 6, 2024 and its 19th title overall all-time.

LAST TIME AT PRINCETON
Aguliar shot a 3-over-par, 74, in round three to lead the Pirates in the final round of the Princeton Invitational in last year's event. Aguilar had two birdies and 11 pars to fuel her final round. For the tournament, she tied for 12th place among 79 individual golfers with a 6-over-par, 74-71-74-219.

As a team, The Hall shot a 23-over-par, 307, in the final round, its best of the tournament. For the three-round event, Seton Hall finished at 85-over-par with a 322-308-307-937. Host Princeton won the team title and was the only program under par at 1-under. BIG EAST competitors St. John's and Georgetown finished at 38-over-par and 39-over-par, respectively.

THE SCHEDULE
The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9:45 a.m. on Friday. The field will play two continuous rounds. On Saturday, the field will play whatever remains of round two, and possibly round thee if the weather cooperates.
