Cross Country Competes at BIG EAST Championship

BOSTON, MASS. - The Seton Hall cross country teams were in action on Friday at the BIG EAST Championship, held at Franklin Park in Boston. The men's team placed 10th with 369 points, while the women's team finished in 11th with 429 points. Notre Dame, with 47 points took the men's title while Providence won the women's championship with 42 points.
For the Seton Hall men's team, junior Justin Wood (Walton, N.Y./SUNY-Delhi) placed 52nd overall in 25:38. The next Pirate finisher was freshman David Alfano (West Orange, N.J) who completed the course in 26:03, good for 63rd place. Junior Ryan Collardeau (New Ipswich, N.H.) placed 83rd, finishing in a time of 27:21. The remaining finishers for Seton Hall were freshman Brendan Meehan in 85th (27:32), sophomore Alex Currie (Delphi, Ind./Delphi) in 86th (28:13), freshman Greg Gomez (Somerset/Franklin, N.J.) in 87th (28:28), freshman John Morse in 88th (28:28), and sophomore Desmond Perkins (Chesapeake, Va.) in 89th (28:51).
The top women's finisher for Seton Hall was freshman Kerry Cahill, in 68th place with a time of 23:34. Sophomore Crystal Anyanwu (Beltsville, Md.) ranked 85th with a time of 24:27, while graduate student Erin Hagan was close behind in 88th place with a time of 24:37. The remaining Seton Hall finishers were senior Andrea Austin (Hollywood, Fla.) in 92nd (25:06), freshman Feven Tsegai in 96th (26:07), sophomore Robin Kneblick (Burleson, Texas) in 101st (27:37), sophomore Cassidy Powers in 103rd (29:39), and junior Gorgous Harper in 104th (32:05).
Seton Hall will return to action on Saturday, November 13 at the NCAA Regional Championship in State College, Penn.
