Cross Country Competes in Metropolitan Championships

BRONX, N.Y. – The Seton Hall men’s and women’s cross country teams on Friday competed in the Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park, with the men finishing 10th, compiling 285 points, and the women coming in 9th, with 239 points. Freshman Tom Walsh (Matawan, N.J.) was the men’s top finisher, coming in 47th with a time of 28:10, and senior Andrea Austin (Hollywood, Fla.) paced the women’s team, with a 25th place finish and a time of 20:23.
On the women’s side, sophomore Kerry Cahill (Hillsborough, N.J.) came in 35th with a time of 20:50, junior Crystal Anyanwu (Beltsville, Md.) was 45th, running the course in 21:17, junior Katie Van Doren finished 66th, posting a time of 23:11, and junior Robin Kneblick (Burleson, Texas) had a time of 23:30, finishing in 68th place.
The men’s top-five finishers all ran the race within a minute and a half of one another. The other leading performers on the men’s side were freshman Terrance Gallogly (Providence, R.I.), who came in 50th with a time of 28:22, senior Ryan Colardeau (New Ipswich, N.H.), who finished the course in 28:35, placing 56th, freshman Rob Novak (Bordentown, N.J.), with a 59th place finish and a time of 28:41, and freshman Chad Vidal (Helmetta, N.J.) was 73rd, with a time of 29:27.
The Pirates return to action next Saturday, Oct. 15, when they will travel to Easton, Pa. for the Lafayette College Invitational. The race will serve as the team’s final warm-up before the BIG EAST Championships, which take place on Oct. 28.
