Cross Country Competes at BIG EAST Championships

BOSTON, Mass. The Seton Hall men’s and women’s cross country competed at the BIG EAST Championships at Franklin Park on Friday.  The men finished in 14thplace, and the women came in 15th place.  Sophomore Pawel Kornaszewski (Clifton, N.J.) was the men’s top finisher, coming in 68th with a time of 25:47, and junior Kerry Cahill (Hillsborough, N.J.) paced the women’s team, with a 71st place finish and a time of 23:28.

The leading performers on the men’s side were sophomore Terrance Gallogly (Providence, R.I.), who came in 79^th with a time of 26:15, sophomore Rob Novak (Bordentown, N.J.) who finished the course in 26:26, placing 82^nd, junior Patrick O’Neill (Southwick, Mass.) with a 94^th place finish and a time of 27:40, and junior Greg Gomes (Somerset, N.J.) was 95^nd, with a time of 28:33.

On the women’s side, senior Crystal Anyanwu (Beltsville, Md.) came in 83^rdplace with a time of 23:50, freshman Diane Szaflarski (Clifton, N.J.) was 99^th, running the course in 24:51, junior Rose Abrams (Pine Hill, N.J.) finished 101^st, posting a time of 25:15, and sophomore Jackie Hobbs (Burleson, Texas) had a time of 25:39, finishing in 104^th place.

The Pirates return to action on Saturday, Nov. 11, when they will compete at the NCAA Regional Championship in Lock Haven, Pa.
