BRONX, N.Y.- The Seton Hall cross country team competed at the Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park on Friday morning. The men’s team finished ninth (27:31, 2:17:31) out of 13 teams. The Pirates first male across the finish line was sophomore Rob Novak (Bordentown, N.J.), who took 34th place running the course in 26:44. On the women’s side, Seton Hall finished in 8th place (20:29, 1:42:25). Junior Kerry Cahill (Hillsborough, N.J.) was the top finisher for the women. Cahill posted a time of 19:33, good enough for 20th place.
Rounding out the rest of the men, senior Desmond Perkins (Chesapeake, Va.) finished 42nd (27:11). Sophomore Terrance Gallogly (Providence, R.I.) took 44th place (27:16). Right behind Gallogly was fellow sophomore Pawel Kornaszewski (Clifton, N.J.), who earned 45th place (27:16). Freshman Patrick McGovern finished 75th and had a time of 29:04.
For the women, senior Crystal Anyanwu (Beltsville, Md.) finished 43rd with a time of 20:24. Freshman Diane Szaflarski earned 44th place, finishing one second behind Anyanwu (20:25). Junior Rose Abrams (Pine Hill, N.J.) took 49th place (20:43), and sophomore Chavanne Hubbard finished 56th with a time of 21:20.
The Pirates return to action next Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Leopard Invitational, in Easton, Pa.
