Seton Hall Game Notes
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. The Seton Hall women’s basketball team is set to host the Aeropostale Seton Hall Basketball Classic this weekend at Walsh Gym. The tournament tips off on Friday, Nov. 17, with the Pirates playing Howard at 6:00 p.m., followed by Massachusetts and Navy at approximately 8:00 p.m. The event concludes on Saturday, Nov. 18, with the consolation game at 1:00 p.m. followed by the championship game at 3:00 p.m.
The Pirates enter the weekend with a 1-1 mark after defeating Missouri State, 62-55, last Sunday at the WBCA/Metrosports Classic in Kansas City, Mo. Senior Heta Korpivaara (Espoo, Finland) earned all-tournament honors after averaging 20.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in two games. SHU enters this weekend with an all-time record of 30-4 in tournament games it has hosted.
Friday night’s opener will be Seton Hall Faculty and Staff Night. Prior to the game, there will be free Starbucks coffee and Dunkin’ Donuts available beginning at 5:00 p.m. and all faculty and staff will be admitted free with a Seton Hall ID. Fans will also receive a free 2006-07 women’s and men’s basketball schedule magnet.
Seton Hall has a combined record of 4-0 against the teams rounding out the tournament field and is 2-0 against its opening-round opponent, Howard. The Bison the game with an 0-3 record after falling to LSU, Virginia Tech and West Virginia at the Basketball Traveler’s Classic over the weekend.
Massachusetts is 2-0 entering the weekend and is led by a pair of Preseason All-Atlantic 10 players in Pam Rosanio and Kate Mills. Navy opened the year with losses to Ohio and Marshall and is led by Lauren Nelson and Margaret Knap. The Minutewomen and Midshipmen have never faced each other.
