Women's Basketball Ranks Fourth Among Most Improved

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall women's basketball team tied for fourth on the newly released NCAA list of most improved teams in 2006-07. The Pirates finished 19-12 this past season, an increase of 13 wins and an 11-game improvement in overall record.
Oklahoma State and Western Carolina topped the list with 12.5 game improvements. Morgan State checked in third, followed by Seton Hall and San Diego. The statistic is calculated by adding the difference in wins between the two seasons to the difference in losses, then dividing by two.
SHU enjoyed its finest season in 12 years, capped off by a berth in the WNIT. The Pirates tied for eighth in the BIG EAST with a 9-7 record and returned to the conference tournament after a one-year absence. Junior Ela Mukosiej (Bilystok, Poland) earned All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention accolades, while senior Monique Blake (Union, N.J.) was voted Second Team All-Met. Head coach Phyllis Mangina won her 300th career game during the season.
