PROVIDENCE, R.I. Seton Hall forward Kandice Green (Baltimore, Md.) was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the conference office today.
Green averaged 7.5 points and 7.5 rebounds as the Pirates knocked off Colorado and Saint Peter’s this past week to move to 7-1. Against the Buffaloes on Dec. 9, she scored eight points and grabbed 10 boards, the third time she reached double-figure rebounds this season. On Dec. 13, Green chipped in seven points and five boards as the Hall won its first road game of the year. On the year, she is averaging 12.0 points and 8.4 rebounds.
Green becomes the first Pirate to twice win the Freshman of the Week Award since Heta Korpivaara in the 2002-03 season. Debbie Hartnett holds the school record with four honors in the 1985-86 campaign.
Louisville’s Angel McCoughtry earned the BIG EAST Player of the Week Award, while Tina Charles and Maya Moore of Connecticut, Angel Morgan of Cincinnati, Liz Repella of West Virginia and Juanita Ward of Syracuse make up the Weekly Honor Roll.
