SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. Erica Morrow led four players in double figures for #21/23 Syracuse as the Orange (19-4, 7-3) defeated the Seton Hall women’s basketball team, 81-72.  Junior guard Jadis Rhodin (Lakehurst, N.J.) led the Pirates (13-10, 3-8) with a career-high 25 points.

Rhodin buried six 3-pointers, also a career-high, in 11 attempts, while freshman Ebonie Williams (Hagerstown, Md.) drilled three on her way to 15 points.  Junior Letitia Curry (Pennsauken, N.J.) turned in 10 points, eight rebounds, five blocks, and five steals for the Hall.

Fantasia Goodwin added 20 points for the Orange, while Chandrea Jones scored 13 and Nicole Michael chipped in 11.

A pair of early trifectas from Williams sparked SHU as it raced out to a 15-2 lead in the opening seven and a half minutes.  Syracuse responded with a 9-0 run, but Rhodin and Williams continued to bomb from the outside as the Pirates maintained a 22-15 lead with 6:52 left in the first half.

Morrow caught fire for the Orange, connecting on three straight 3-pointers as Syracuse took the lead, 26-22, with 4:16 left.  The visitors carried a 30-28 lead into intermission.

Two free throws and a jumper from Curry tied the game at 32 early in the second half, but it was the last time the Hall would draw even.  A 7-0 spurt put Syracuse back in control, and the Orange gradually built their lead to its apex of 16 with 4:21 remaining.  Three 3-pointers from Rhodin over the final minute were not enough as Seton Hall suffered its fifth straight defeat.

The Pirates set a new school record with 11 made 3-point field goals, while their 24 attempts were the second most in Hall history.

Syracuse shot a sizzling 55.1% from the floor, including 66.7% in the second half.  SHU connected on 41.0% for the game.  The Orange held a 34-26 edge on the glass.

The Pirates are back in action at Marquette on Saturday, with tip-off at 2:00 p.m. ET.
