SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. The Seton Hall women’s basketball team dropped its fourth straight game on Saturday, falling to #1 Connecticut, 82-36. Maya Moore led the Huskies (22-1, 9-1) with 28 points and 14 rebounds.
Freshman Ebonie Williams (Hagerstown, Md.) led the Pirates (13-9, 3-7) with 11 points. The Hall played shorthanded, dressing only nine players due to injuries.
SHU briefly led when sophomore Nicole Emery (Baldwin, N.Y.) made it 2-0 with a 17-foot jumper on the Pirates’ first possession. UConn had trouble with the Hall throughout the first ten minutes, leading only 15-11after junior Letitia Curry (Pennsauken, N.J.) hit a free throw for SHU with 10:34 to play.
The Huskies found their stride, taking a 44-18 lead into halftime. Moore had 18 points and 11 rebounds in the opening 20 minutes.
The win continues Connecticut’s streak of avoiding consecutive losses, which now stands at 523 games.
Curry added nine points and six rebounds for the Pirates, who outrebounded the Huskies 39-37. Senior Nikole Sullivan (Hamilton, Austrailia) chipped in six rebounds and three blocks off the bench.
The Pirates are back in action on Feb. 13 when they host Syracuse on Think Pink night at Walsh Gymnasium.
