
Women's Basketball Runs Away From Delaware State, 74-50

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall women's basketball team cruised to a 74-50 win over Delaware State on Saturday afternoon at Walsh Gymnasium. The Pirates (6-4) are back in action on Dec. 19 at Prudential Center against Saint Peter's at 4:00 p.m., followed by the men's team taking on Temple at 7:00 p.m.
Junior Ebonie Williams (Hagerstown, Md.) led the Hall with 12 points, followed by sophomore Kandice Green (Baltimore, Md.), who added 11 points and six rebounds. Senior Nicole Emery (Baldwin, N.Y.) was also in double figures with 10 points. Selena Galloway paced the Hornets (1-6) with 14.
Delaware State held a 9-3 lead less than four minutes in after a pair of free throws from Sade Bowen. Cortney Crockett gave the Hornets their biggest lead of the game when her layup made it a 15-7 game at the 14:02 mark.
The Pirates fought back, finally tying the game at 20 when freshman Terry Green (Bridgewaters, N.Y.) sank a three-pointer with 9:44 to go in the first half. A minute and a half later, she drained another triple as the Hall took its first lead of the night at 25-23.
Junior Kashmere Joseph (London, England) sparked a 17-5 run over the final seven minutes with two field goals and a pair of free throws to help Seton Hall to a 42-30 edge at the break.
The Hornets hung around early in the second stanza, cutting the deficit to eight on three occasions within the first seven minutes. With the score 52-42, Williams buried a three-pointer for the Hall, followed by a Joseph layup and a three from senior Ashley Booker (San Diego, Calif.) that made it 60-42.
Delaware State managed just 10 points over the final 13 minutes and 18 seconds as the Pirates' pressure took over. A bucket from Kandice Green made it a 20-point lead, 64-44, with 5:43 to play, and the Hall breezed the rest of the way to tie its largest margin of victory on the season.
Ten Pirates scored, with Terry Green totaling eight points and six rebounds and Joseph adding eight points and five boards. The Pirates shot 44.8 percent from the floor while limiting the Hornets to 34.0 percent. Delaware State was forced into 21 turnovers, leading to 29 points for the Hall.
