Green Earns Third BIG EAST Freshman of the Week Award

PROVIDENCE, R.I. Seton Hall forward Kandice Green (Baltimore, Md.) was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the third time this season after averaging 11.5 points and 7.5 rebounds for the Pirates over two games.

Green scored a team-high 12 points to go along with nine rebounds in the Hall’s 55-47 win over West Virginia on Feb. 4.  She came back with 11 points and six boards in a narrow loss to Villanova on Feb. 7.  Green averaged 34.0 minutes per game for the week while shooting 62.5 percent.

With her latest honor, Green is now just one shy of Debbie Hartnett’s school-record four awards in the 1985-86 season.

Sarah Miles of West Virginia picked up the BIG EAST Player of the Week Award, while Catherine Bove of Providence, Laura Kurz of Villanova, Angel McCoughtry of Louisville, Maya Moore of Connecticut and Shavonte Zellous of Pittsburgh comprise the Honor Roll.
