MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Seton Hall women's basketball team dropped its third straight conference game and fourth overall on Sunday, falling at Marquette, 69-44. Sophomore Kandice Green (Baltimore, Md.) led the Pirates (8-8, 0-3) with 15 points.
Paige Fiedorowicz paced the Golden Eagles (11-5, 2-1) with 13 points.
The Hall was held scoreless for the first six minutes and 58 seconds before senior Ashley Booker (San Diego, Calif.) converted a fast break layup to make it a 9-2 game. Fiedorowicz answered with a three-point play and a driving bucket in the lane, and the Golden Eagles later extended the run to 9-0 for an 18-2 lead.
Green broke a drought of five minutes and 15 seconds with a free throw as the Pirates got back to within 15 at the 7:47 mark. Green kept the Hall in the game, hitting a pair of field goals and two free throws that made it a 24-11 game with 2:55 left. Marquette regained control from then on, however, closing with an 8-2 run for a 32-15 edge at halftime.
In a turnover plagued first half, the Pirates had 14 giveaways while the Golden Eagles committed 13. Green led the Hall with nine points at intermission, while Jessica Pachko paced Marquette with eight.
The Golden Eagles pushed the lead to 20 on a pair of occasions before Green and junior Ebonie Williams (Hagerstown, Md.) scored baskets in a span of 16 seconds to make it 37-21 at the 17:02 mark. Marquette once again would not allow a sustained rally, hitting a bevy of free throws before Angel Robinson sank a deep three for a 49-24 lead with just under 12 minutes to play.
The Golden Eagles led by as many as 28 down the stretch.
Williams added 12 points for the Pirates and tied for game-high honors with seven rebounds. Pachko finished with 11 points for Marquette, while Tatiyiana McMorris was also in double figures with 10.
