
Women's Basketball Falls To Louisville, 72-49

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - A big second half propelled Louisville past the Seton Hall women's basketball team on Wednesday night, 72-49. The Pirates (9-18, 1-13) return to action on Saturday when they host #7/8 Notre Dame on Senior Day at 2:00 p.m.
Junior Ebonie Williams (Hagerstown, Md.) paced the Hall with 16 points, while freshman Terry Green (Bridgewaters, N.Y.) added 12. Monique Reid enjoyed a monster game for the Cardinals (13-14, 5-9) with 28 points and 15 rebounds.
Sophomore Kandice Green (Baltimore, Md.) accounted for the first two buckets of the game before Terry Green put home a fast break layup to make it 6-0 three minutes in. Senior Nicole Emery (Baldwin, N.Y.) later made it 9-1 with a three-pointer before Louisville scored five straight to stem the tide.
A putback from Terry Green gave the Pirates a 13-8 edge with just under 11 minutes to play. The Cardinals got back to within 15-14 on a Brandie Radde score, and after the team traded baskets for several minutes, Louisville grabbed a 24-19 edge with 4:31 remaining after three straight Seton Hall turnovers were converted into field goals. Keshia Hines scored on the inside to cap an 8-0 run before Williams broke the spell with a leaner for the Pirates, making it 26-21.
Monique Reid buried a pull-up jumper to give the Cardinals a 30-21 lead with a minute and a half remaining in the first half. The Hall would go into the break down six after Terry Green sank a three-pointer with seven seconds left.
Becky Burke knocked down a triple with 16:50 left as Louisville pushed the lead to double digits at 39-29. Williams got the Hall back to with five with a three of her own, but the lead was back to 12 when Burke again hit from deep with 12:51 on the clock.
Reid pushed the lead to 51-36 with a free throw, followed by a Burke three-pointer in transition as the Cardinals began to pull away. Seton Hall could get no closer than 14 the rest of the way.
Louisville shot 53.6 percent on the night, including 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from three-point territory. The Pirates were held to 32.2 percent overall. The Cardinals finished with a 36-31 edge on the glass.
Burke added 16 points for Louisville, while Hines ended up with 10. Terry Green scored 12 for the Hall.
