Q&A with Hannah Basalone
•1. How did you get involved in the game of golf?
When I was 4 my dad started taking me to our local golf course and started teaching me how to play. He would get me there by bribing me with a strawberry donut or a Milky Way and tee up ball after ball until I got tired. My aunt also used to work for the Tucson Open so I grew up going to that every year too. Looking back, these memories really made me love golf.
•2. Why did you choose Seton Hall?
Before Seton Hall announced the start of a women's team, I had just been planning on going to a division 3 school. When I was offered the opportunity to play division 1 in the Big East conference I couldn't say no.
•3. What challenges have you had to overcome on the golf course?
My biggest challenge on the course has always been myself, like having the confidence to do your best. It's something I'm always working on.
•4. What was your favorite experience from the fall season here at Seton Hall?
Traveling to tournaments with the team was my favorite! We always had so much fun together no matter what we were doing.
•5. What is the greatest lesson that you have learned from the game of golf?
The greatest lesson I've learned from golf is probably patience. I'm definitely not a very patient person but golf has really made me better at that.
•6. What accomplishment in your golf career are you most proud of?
I'd have to say I'm most proud of how I played this fall season. Although I would have loved to play better, I'm pretty satisfied with how I played and can't wait to improve in the spring.
•7. In your free time, what do you enjoy doing besides spending time at the golf course?
I absolutely love watching movies, hiking, and basically anything having to do with art. I also love hanging out with my siblings, family, and friends.
•8. If you weren't on the golf team here, what other sports team would you most likely be interested in being on and why?
I would most likely be interested in playing soccer. I played for awhile before I decided to focus on golf. It'd definitely be fun to try again.
•9. What is your major and why did you choose to study that? Do you have educational aspirations beyond your undergraduate degree at Seton Hall?
I'm currently undecided with my major, but I'm leaning towards broadcasting/visual communications. I'm really interested in music, movies, and television and this is what this major is all about. I would also like to attend graduate school after receiving my undergraduate degree.
•10. What goals do you have both on the golf course and in the classroom during your career here at Seton Hall?
I would love to win a few tournaments during my career at Seton Hall. In the classroom, my goal is to get a 4.0 in the courses for my major.
