EDISON, N.J. - Seton Hall head women's basketball coach Anne Donovan was named the Sports Woman of the Year at the New Jersey Sports Writers' Association 75th anniversary banquet on Sunday at the Pines Manor.
Donovan headlined a star-studded lineup of honorees while adding to her already lengthy dossier of awards, which includes the Naismith Trophy as the national player of the year while at Old Dominion, two Olympic gold medals as a player, membership in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and a WNBA Championship as head coach of the Seattle Storm.
Now at Seton Hall, Donovan sees a bright future for the Pirates. "I'm really excited," she told the crowd of over 500. "I never thought this Jersey girl would come back to New Jersey. I am exactly where I was supposed to be."
