Heading into the final stretch of the fall season, the Seton Hall men's and women's cross country teams travel to the University of Louisville for the BIG EAST Championships on Saturday, October 29.
The blue and white will lace up their racing spikes to take on E.P. "Tom Sawyer" State Park, a course known for its beautiful scenery.
"It's a beautiful course, and not overly hilly," says Coach John Moon of the Pirates' upcoming challenge. "It's a state park, so it's basically flat and very scenic - lots of roving hills."
Junior captain Jared Hanko has led a strong attack from the men's side all season, and shows no signs of slowing the pace. Senior Erik Chester has also recorded solid finishes week after week, and looks to keep the momentum heading into Saturday.
For the women, freshmen Mary Migton looks to continue her impressive rookie campaign, having already tallied four top-10 finishes this fall. After missing most of the season due to injury, the Pirates welcomed back junior Hughnique Rolle at the Leopard Invitational, and will look for her to pour in a solid effort this weekend as well.
"They will run through any wall you put in front of them," says Moon of his Pirates. "They are tough, and they are very motivated. Every runner I have is healthy and ready to go."
The Pirates will face a tough BIG EAST field on Saturday, as the men take on the 8K and the women race the 6K.
"Morale, anticipation and desire are all very, very high," adds Moon. "Mentally, we are on cloud nine, and we are most definitely looking forward to it."
