PIRATES' STATUS
Seton Hall topped Old Dominion to wrap up the Paradise Jam with a 2-1 record and finish second in the "Island" division. Senior Jasmine Crew wrapped up her All-Tournament Team selection with a 21-point effort, while junior Brittany Morris chipped in a career-high 20 points in the win. The Pirates led for all but 47 seconds of the contest and held the Monarchs to 2-of-13 (15.7 percent) shooting from three-point range and forced 20 turnovers. The win also marked the first for head coach Anne Donovan against her alma-mater in seven tries.
THE PRIDE'S STATUS
Hofstra has won four-straight and is coming off a pair of wins at the Cancun Challenge against Kansas State and Drake. In the Pride's 70-60 triumph over the Bulldogs, Hofstra led by six a the break, but a 19-5 run in the second half opened up a 59-40 lead for the Pride, but Drake pulled within five points. However, Hofstra knocked down key free-throws down the stretch to earn the victory. Junior Shante Evans led the team with 15 points and 10 boards to pick up her second double-double of the season.
CREW'S BIG WEEK
Senior guard Jasmine Crew had a big week in the Virgin Islands, helping the Pirates claim second place in the "Island" division at the Paradise Jam with a 2-1 record. Crew earned All-Tournament Team honors after averaging 24.3 points per game to lead all scorers in the competition. The conference also recognized her as BIG EAST Player of the Week, making Crew the first Pirate to earn that accolade since Noteisha Womack in December of 2007.
MORRIS ENJOYS "PARADISE"
Junior Brittany Morris scored a career-high 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting against ODU on Nov. 26 to help lighten some of the scoring load that Jasmine Crew has been carrying all season. In three games at the Paradise Jam, the Raleigh, N.C. native averaged 13.7 points per contest.
SCHOOL TIES
A 1983 graduate of Old Dominion, SHU head coach Anne Donovan earned her first career victory over her alma-mater on November 26. While at East Carolina from 1995-98, Donovan was 0-6 against the Lady Monarchs, who were perennially ranked in the top-25 in that time-frame.
IRON WOMAN
Senior Jasmine Crew played the entire 45 minutes in an overtime game against Alabama on Nov. 25, setting a new single-game record. Five players had previously held the mark at 43 minutes.
BEAST OF THE BOARDS
Senior Tajay Ashmeade posted back-to-back double-figure rebounding games in the first two games of the Paradise Jam. She is the only current Pirate to have a double-figure rebounding game this season.
A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
Jasmine Crew's 35 points against Louisiana Tech on Thursday, which is the second highest single-game total in program history. She joins Debbie Hartnett (1988) as the only other player to score 35 points. Geraldine Saintilus netted 36 points against St. John's in 1989 to set the all-time record. Crew did set records for free-throws made and attempted (16-for-21).
CLAMPING DOWN
After allowing a season-high 43 points in the first half to Louisiana Tech, the Pirates stepped up defensively, holding the Techsters to 37.5 percent from the floor and 28.6 percent from three-point range. In addition, SHU turned the ball over just three times in the second half, compared to 13 in the first stanza.
SHU VS. THE CAA
For the second straight game, SHU will take on a foe from the CAA. The Pirates are 17-10 all-time against teams currently in the Colonial Athletic Conference. SHU has played six contests against James Madison in its history, posting a 4-2 mark in those games. This season the Pirates have already faced Old Dominion and will also face William & Mary and Drexel.
JCREW STARTING SEASON IN STYLE
Senior Jasmine Crew has picked up right where she left off last season posting career-highs in points four of seven games this season. In addition, she recorded her 1,000th collegiate point in the victory over Army. Crew is currently among the conference leaders, averaging 20.9 points per contest.
