
Women's Basketball Toppled By #8 Notre Dame, 89-38

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - A red-hot shooting #8/8 Notre Dame was too much for the Seton Hall women's basketball team on Tuesday night in an 89-38 decision at the Joyce Center. The Pirates (7-16, 0-10) head to Cincinnati on Saturday for the BIG EAST Game of the Week at 2:00 p.m.
Junior Jasmine Crew (Camden, N.J.) paced the Hall with 10 points. Natalie Novosel scored 16 to lead six Fighting Irish (21-4, 10-1) in double figures.
Notre Dame jumped out to an 11-2 lead by the 16:15 mark behind fullcourt pressure defense that forced several Seton Hall turnovers. Devereaux Peters later scored seven straight points for the Irish in a 15-3 spurt that made it a 26-7 game with 12:27 to go.
Freshman Jazzmine Johnson (Glen Dale, Md.) scored consecutive buckets to cap an 8-0 run that cut the Notre Dame lead to 26-15 at the 9:34 mark. The Irish bounced back with 12 of the next 14 points, six coming from Novosel, before Crew stuck a three for the Hall to make it 38-20. Notre Dame took a 44-23 lead into the break.
The Irish shot 66.7 percent in the first half while holding the Hall to 32.3 percent. Notre Dame controlled the interior, scoring 24 points in the paint and outrebounding the Pirates, 23-9.
A 9-0 burst to start the second half gave Notre Dame its first 30 point lead of the night. The run reached 21-2 as the Irish assumed a 65-25 lead with 12:24 left in the contest.
Notre Dame ended the night with 17 steals and 36 points off turnovers. The Irish shot 64.0 percent and limited the Pirates to 24.6 percent.
