KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Seton Hall volleyball team fell to North Carolina, 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-17), on Saturday morning. The Pirates (2-2) will wrap up the Western Michigan Invitational against the Broncos tonight at 7:00 p.m.
Senior Meghan Matusiak (Winfield, Ill.) led the team for the fourth-straight match with nine kills. Freshman Alyssa Warren (Joliet, Ill.) had nine digs, marking the first time she has failed to reach double-figures this season.
The Tar Heels (3-1) used a 10-2 run to mount a 20-9 lead in the opening frame. The Pirates showed some resiliency late by cutting the deficit to five, but a Kayla Berringer kill put Seton Hall away, 25-19.
In set two, the Pirates hung around early and a Matusiak kill made it 8-6 in favor of UNC. However, the Tar Heels scored six unanswered and went ahead, 2-0, in the match.
North Carolina started off hot again in the third set, taking a 7-2 early advantage and never looked back.
