Ashmeade Signs to Play in Spain

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Former Seton Hall women's basketball player Tajay Ashmeade has signed a contract with Universitario de Ferrol of the Spanish Professional League. Ashmeade will join her club for training camp in the coming weeks and play will begin in October.
Ashmeade established herself as one of the premier rebounders in the BIG EAST last season, pulling down 8.8 rebounds per contest to go with a 4.7 scoring average. The 6-3 center is coming off another summer of playing with the Jamaican National Team at the FIBA Centrobasket Tournament in June.
Universitario de Ferrol also features another former Pirate standout in Heta Korpivaara ('07), who led the club averaging 21.1 points per game in 2011-12.
