
Manthorpe to BIG EAST Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Sophomore Stacey Manthorpe (Merion Station, Pa.) was named to the BIG EAST Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll for the second straight week after leading the Pirates to a perfect 3-0 week and earning MVP honors at the Seton Hall Invitational.
In addition to recording her second straight Honor Roll, Manthorpe earned Most Valuable Player recognition for the second straight week as well. The super-sophomore was named MVP of the Seton Hall Invitational after leading her Pirates to victories over Stony Brook and Morgan State. On Friday vs. the Seawolves, Manthorpe notched her seventh double-double of the season with a team-high 12 kills to go with 15 digs. On Saturday vs. the Bears, she narrowly missed her eighth double-double, finishing with 11 kills and nine digs. Earlier in the week, Manthorpe helped the Pirates to a shutout of Princeton with nine kills and nine digs.
Other weekly honors include: Rutgers' Stephanie Zielinski being named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Sara Schmid earning BIG EAST Freshman of the Week recognition. Joining Manthorpe on the Honor Roll are DePaul's Vesela Zapryanova, Louisville's Tanya Lukyanenko, Marquette's Danielle Carlson, Notre Dame's Toni Alugbue and St. John's Karin Palgutova.
With a record of 11-1, Seton Hall is off to its best start since the beginning of the 1996 season. It's also currently riding a seven-match win streak, the longest such streak for the Pirates since 2003.
Manthorpe and the Pirates will return to action this Saturday, September 22 when they open the BIG EAST portion of their schedule against Pittsburgh at Walsh Gym. Match time is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
