VB Wraps Up Road Swing at URI

SCOUTING THE GRIFFINS
- Canisius comes into the weekend at 2-5.
- Junior midle blocker Roxanne Hernandez is the Griffins top threat, averaging 2.26 kills and 1.04 blocks per set.
- Current SHU assistant coach Allie Matters should be familiar with the Griffs after spending the last two seasons on Canisius' bench.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
- Hartford is 3-4 on the year, but have won two of its last three matches coming into the weekend.
- Sophomore Sareeta Nethersole is the Hawks go-to player and is averaging team-highs with 3.76 kills (.300 attack percentage), 3.10 digs, and 0.72 blocks per set.
- Nethersole had a monster weekend at the Volley in the Valley Tournament at Marist and was named America East Player of the Week.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
- URI has faced a challenging schedule to start 2012, playing the ranks of Denver, Virginia, and Colorado State.
- Catie Steffen averages 2.57 kills and 2.38 digs to lead the Rams.
MOVING ON UP
Junior Alyssa Warren is now in sole possession of fourth place on the career dig list with 1,209 in two-plus seasons. She is just 28 away from passing Laura Romeika for third place.
BEST START SINCE...
Seton Hall's 5-1 start is the best since the program began the 1996 season 10-0. In addition, the Pirates won their first two matches of the season for the first time since 2008.
ROAD WARRIORS
With their win at Hofstra on Tuesday, the Pirates are 3-0 in true road games for the first time since the 1992 season, when they began 4-0.
MARYLAND INVITE
Sophomore Shelbey Manthorpe and freshman Amanda Hansen earned All-Tournament Team honors at the Maryland Invitational after helping SHU go 2-1. Manthorpe's triple-double against Maryland highlighted her weekend, while Hansen posted double-figure kills in two matches and provided a strong presence in the middle.
DIG PINK
For the fourth consecutive season, Seton Hall will host its annual Dig Pink Match when they welcome Rutgers to Walsh Gym on October 19. There will be auctions and raffles taking place to raise money for the Side Out Foundation in support of breast cancer research. Donations can also be made by visiting www.side-out.org.
