ABOUT THE MATCHUP Seton Hall hosts USF on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m., in what will be the first of a pair of regular season matchups between the two teams. It also marks the second-straight season Seton Hall has faced USF in a home-and-home format. USF won both games against the Pirates last season, picking up a 57-45 win in Tampa and a 68-49 victory in Walsh Gymnasium. USF has won all nine BIG EAST meetings with Seton Hall.
SETON HALL STATUS Seton Hall saw a one-point game early in the second half slip away after a 16-0 run as the Pirates fell at Georgetown on Jan. 19. Senior Terry Green led the Pirates offensively, scoring a season-high 17 points on five three-point field goals, while redshirt sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons scored 11 of her 13 points in the second half to reach double figures for the 10th-straight game.
USF STATUS USF brings a 12-5 overall mark and a 1-3 BIG EAST record into Tuesday night's game at Seton Hall. The Bulls picked up their first conference win by beating Cincinnati, 77-44, but fell at Villanova, 52-49, on Jan. 19. Andrea Smith leads three players who average double figures with 18.2 ppg. The Bulls shoot 34.8 percent from three-point range and have made 112 three pointers this year.
TERRY GREEN FOR THREE Sharp shooting senior Terry Green led the Pirates in scoring against Georgetown on Jan. 19, accumulating a season-high 17 points on a season-best five three-point field goals. She received the start and shot 5-for-13 from three-point range in 29 minutes; her 13 three-point field goal attempts tied the school record previously set by Cecilia Lindqvist against Rutgers on Jan. 8, 2000.
PIRATES SET NEW PROGRAM RECORD FOR THREE-POINT ATTEMPTS Seton Hall tied its season-high with nine made three-point field goals when it faced Georgetown on Jan. 19, which also ties for the fifth-most in program history. The Pirates also attempted a season-high 30 three-pointers, which set a new school record, breaking the old mark of 26 set three times before, including earlier this season against Wyoming on Nov. 23.
ALMOST 800 FOR MORRIS Senior guard Brittany Morris is just four points shy of reaching 800 for her career. She has scored 796 points over her three-plus seasons at Seton Hall and is averaging 8.2 points per game in 97-career games played. This season she leads the Pirates with 12.6 points per game which ranks 25th in the BIG EAST.
GREEN NEARING 600 CAREER-POINTS After scoring a team-high 17 points against Georgetown on Jan. 19, senior Terry Green needs just 10 more points to reach 600 for her career. She passed 500-career points in the Pirates' season opener against NJIT on Nov. 9, and is averaging 5.6 points per game this season.
SIMMONS DISHING THE ROCK Redshirt-sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons dished out eight assists against Georgetown on Jan. 19. It was the second-high single-game assist output of her career, second only to her 10 assist game against New Orleans earlier this season. SETON HALL'S BIG THREE When Seton Hall faced Marquette on Jan. 15, senior Brittany Morris (18 points), redshirt sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons (17 points) and sophomore Alexis Brown (10 points) combined to score 45 of the Pirates' 53 points, accounting for 84.9 percent of Seton Hall's offensive output.
LEADER OF THE PACK Redshirt sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons has taken over as Seton Hall's go-to offensive weapon, scoring in double figures in 10-straight games. Simmons was averaging just 7.6 points per game through the first eight games of the season but over the past 10 games she is averaging a team-best 15.0 points per game, with season-high scoring outputs of 18 points at Wake Forest on Dec. 8, and Cincinnati on Jan. 9.
SINGLE-SEASON FREE THROWS Senior guard Brittany Morris is one of the nation's leaders in three-point shooting and she is currently turning in one of the most efficient single-season free throw efforts in program history. She is 48-for-57 from the line this year which ranks fifth in the BIG EAST and 54th in the nation and is the second-best single-season mark in Seton Hall history.
WEBB SHINES UNDER THE BRIGHT LIGHTS Junior center Brittany Webb enjoyed one of her most productive games of the season when the Pirates took on St. John's at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 12. She finished the game with a season-high seven points while leading Seton Hall with six rebounds.
WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS ARENA When Seton Hall faced St. John's University on Saturday, Jan. 12, it was a truly unique experience for the Pirates as the contest took place at the World's Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden, as a part of a St. John's men's and women's hoops double header. It was the first time in program history the Pirates played at game at Madison Square Garden.
THREE-POINT STREAK COMES TO AN END Seton Hall did not make more than four three-pointers in any game prior to its 6-for-19 long-range shooting performance against Mount St. Mary's on Dec. 16, then the Pirates hit at least five three-pointers in six-straight games, including a 9-for-16 performance against New Orleans on Dec. 19. That proficient long-range shooting streak came to and end when Seton Hall made just two three-point field goals at St. John's on Jan. 12.
MASEKO NAMED TO HONOR ROLL Senior forward Alexandra Maseko was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Jan. 7 after recording a double-double with a career-high 16 points to go along with 10 rebounds in the Pirates' BIG EAST opening win over Pittsburgh on Jan. 5. It marked the first time in her career Maseko earned conference weekly accolades and the first time this season Seton Hall has landed a player on the BIG EAST Honor Roll.
THAT'S A GOOD START The Seton Hall women's basketball team won its BIG EAST home and away openers for the first time since the 2007-08 season, which was also the last time the Pirates got off to a 2-0 start in conference play.
BIG ROAD WIN Seton Hall's 64-56 victory at Cincinnati on Jan. 9 was its first BIG EAST road win since a 51-44 decision at Cincinnati on Feb. 12, 2011. It was also the Pirates' largest margin of victory in a road BIG EAST contest since a 55-47 win at West Virginia on Feb. 4, 2009.
STRONGEST HALF OF THE YEAR It was strong second-half shooting that helped the Pirates hold off Cincinnati and pick up a 64-56 win over the Bearcats on Jan. 9. Seton Hall shot 13-for-23 (56.5 percent) from the field in the second half of that game, the best single-half field goal percentage of the season for the Pirates.

TREND WATCH: TURNOVERS So far this season there has been one trend that has stood out in every one of Seton Hall's victories, and that is the turnover battle. Seton Hall has created more turnovers than its opponent in all seven of its wins so far this year, boasting a 7-4 record in those games.
LEADING AT THE HALF Getting off to a good start has been important for the Pirates' ability to come away with a win as Seton Hall is 6-1 when taking a lead into the half but just 1-10 when it trails after 20 minutes of action.

ANNE DONOVAN ACCEPTS HEAD COACHING JOB WITH CONNECTICUT SUN Head women's basketball coach Anne Donovan will be leaving her post at Seton Hall to assume the same position with the Connecticut Sun in the WNBA. Donovan, who is in her third season with the Pirates, will coach the team for the remainder of the 2012-13 season before taking on her full-time role with the Sun at the conclusion of the year. Seton Hall will launch a national search for a new head women's basketball coach at the conclusion of the year.
