ABOUT THE MATCHUP Seton Hall plays its second-straight BIG EAST home contest as it hosts the Villanova Wildcats on Wednesday night in Walsh Gymnasium at 7 p.m. Villanova leads the all-time series against Seton Hall, 34-18, and has won three-straight games against the Pirates. The Wildcats defeated Seton Hall twice last season, a 62-53 regular season victory in Philadelphia and a narrow 61-60 win the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament.
SETON HALL STATUS The Pirates are coming off a 69-49 loss to No. 2/3 Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon. The Pirates had three players score in double figures against the Fighting Irish. Senior Brittany Morris finished with a game-high 16 points, while redshirt sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons had 11 points, six assists and five steals and freshman Tabatha Richardson-Smith came off the bench to score 10 points.
VILLANOVA STATUS After getting off to a 5-1 start in BIG EAST play Villanova has lost four-straight games, most recently a 60-56 setback at home to Marquette last Sunday. The Wildcats are led by Laura Sweeney, who is averaging 13.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game, and Rachel Roberts, who scores 10.9 points per game. Villanova ranks third in the BIG EAST in scoring defense (52.3 ppg).
BIG EAST REMATCH Seton Hall will be looking for a little bit of revenge when it faces Villanova on Wednesday night. The Wildcats eliminated Seton Hall from the 2012 BIG EAST Tournament by picking up a 61-60 win over the Pirates in Hartford. In that game Seton Hall trailed Villanova by eight points with under a minute to play and pulled within one in the final seconds but was not able to come all the way back.
HOTLY CONTESTED RIVALRY Last year's BIG EAST Tournament game between Seton Hall and Villanova is not the only close game between the two conference rivals as of late, in fact, eight of the last 11 meetings between Seton Hall and Villanova have been decided by five points or less, including both of last year's contests. The average point differential over that 11 game span is exactly five points.
HEATING UP FROM THREE Long-range shooting has been an important component to Seton Hall's offense all season long and the Pirates have been especially effective from three-point land over the past six games. Seton Hall has hit at least six three pointers in five of its last six games, including an 8-for-22 performance in its last outing against Notre Dame on Feb. 9. Over the past five games the Pirates are shooting above their season average, hitting three pointers at a 30.4 percent (28-for-92) clip.
RICHARDSON-SMITH PROVIDES BIG BOOST Freshman forward Tabatha Richardson-Smith has shown a knack for coming off the bench and giving the Pirates a big offensive boost. PLAY 4KAY GAME Seton Hall will hosted its annual Play 4Kay game to raise breast cancer awareness and benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund when it faced Notre Dame on Saturday, Feb. 9. ALEXIS BROWN PACES PIRATES AT ‘CUSE Sophomore Alexis Brown led Seton Hall in scoring and rebounding with 10 points and seven rebounds when the Pirates faced Syracuse on Jan. 30. It marked the first time in her career Brown paced the Pirates offensively and the seventh time this season she was the rebounding leader.
SHARP SHOOTING SENIOR Senior guard Brittany Morris is enjoying her best season in a Seton Hall uniform averaging a team-best 12.6 points per game. She is currently ranked in the top-10 in a pair of Seton Hall single season categories as well. Morris has nailed a team-high 48 three-point field goals, tied for the sixth-highest single-season mark in program history, and is shooting 83.1 percent (54-for-65) from the free throw line, which is eighth all-time at Seton Hall.
PIRATES SNAP STREAK WITH WIN OVER RUTGERS Seton Hall put a stop to a 12-game losing streak to in-state rival Rutgers University with a 45-42 victory over the Scarlet Knights on Jan. 27. It was the Pirates' first win over Rutgers in exactly 4,000 days, since a 61-51 win in South Orange on Feb. 13, 2002. Senior Brittany Morris scored a game-high 18 points and redshirt sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons had 11 points and five assists in the win. Seton Hall held Rutgers to 1-for-12 shooting over the final 8:23.

It is the first time in her career Morris earned a weekly conference award and she is the second SHU student-athlete to receive the accolade this season.
CAUGHT IN A WEBB Junior center Brittany Webb swatted a career-high four shots in Seton Hall's 45-42 win over Rutgers on Jan. 27. The four blocked shots were the most in a single game for a Seton Hall player this season and the highest individual total since Tajay Ashmeade recorded four blocks against William & Mary on Dec. 21, 2011.
BUILDING BLOCKS Seton Hall recorded a season-high eight team blocks, led by junior Brittany Webb (4) and senior Alexandra Maseko (3) in its win over Rutgers on Jan. 27, which is the most blocks in a single game for the Pirates since they finished with 10 against Florida Gulf Coast on Nov. 11, 2011.
800 AND COUNTING FOR MORRIS With a team-high 15 points against USF on Jan. 22, senior guard Brittany Morris eclipsed 800 points for her career. She has scored 861 points over her three-plus seasons at Seton Hall and is averaging 8.4 points per game in 102-career games played. This season she leads the Pirates with 12.6 points per game which ranks 24th in the BIG EAST.
ALL-AROUND ALEXIS BROWN Versatile sophomore guard Alexis Brown has continued to prove she can be a factor for Seton Hall every night, regardless of whether or not she scores the basketball. Brown fills up the stat sheet nearly every game, ranking second in rebounding (5.5 rpg), third in assists (56), third in steals (35) and third in minutes per game (27.9).
SIMMONS SEES STREAK COME TO AN END Redshirt-sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons saw her 10-game double-digit scoring streak come to an end when she tallied three points against USF on Jan. 22. The 10-straight double-figure games were a personal record for the Pirate point guard, and she has 21 double-figure scoring games in her career. She averaged 15.0 points and 4.7 assists per game during that 10-game stretch.
TERRY GREEN FOR THREE Senior Terry Green led the Pirates in scoring against Georgetown on Jan. 19, accumulating a season-high 17 points on a season-best five three-point field goals. She received the start and shot 5-for-13 from three-point range in 29 minutes; her 13 three-point field goal attempts tied the school record previously set by Cecilia Lindqvist against Rutgers on Jan. 8, 2000.
PIRATES SET NEW PROGRAM RECORD FOR THREE-POINT ATTEMPTS Seton Hall tied its season-high with nine made three-point field goals when it faced Georgetown on Jan. 19, which also ties for the fifth-most in program history. The Pirates attempted a season-high 30 three-pointers, which set a new school record, breaking the old mark of 26 set three times before, including earlier this season against Wyoming on Nov. 23.
GREEN REACHES 600 CAREER-POINTS Senior Terry Green scored the 600th point of her career when the Pirates faced Syracuse on Jan. 30. She passed 500-career points in the Pirates' season opener against NJIT on Nov. 9, and is averaging 5.3 points per game this season.
SIMMONS DISHING THE ROCK Redshirt-sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons dished out eight assists against Georgetown on Jan. 19. It was the second-highest single-game assist output of her career, trailing only her 10 assist game against New Orleans earlier this season. WEBB SHINES UNDER THE BRIGHT LIGHTS Junior center Brittany Webb enjoyed one of her most productive games of the season when the Pirates took on St. John's at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 12. She finished the game with a season-high seven points while leading Seton Hall with six rebounds.
WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS ARENA When Seton Hall faced St. John's University on Saturday, Jan. 12, it was a truly unique experience for the Pirates as the contest took place at the World's Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden, as a part of a St. John's men's and women's hoops double header. It was the first time in program history the Pirates played at game at Madison Square Garden.
