ABOUT THE MATCHUP Seton Hall returns home to host the Providence College Friars on Wedesday night. Providence leads the all-time series with Seton Hall, 28-25, and the Friars have won four-straight meetings, including a 62-47 win over the Pirates last season in Providence. Seton Hall controls the contests that have been played at Walsh, with a 13-11 record in those games. Prior to the four-game stretch without a win, SHU had won 10-of-11 in the series.
SETON HALL STATUS Seton Hall is coming off a 67-56 loss at USF on Saturday night in Tampa. The Pirate trailed by 29 points in the second half but led a furious comeback, draining nine second-half three pointers to cut the USF lead all the way down to eight points late in the game. Senior Brittany Morris led the way with 23 points and redshirt-sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons had 10 points and seven assists.
PROVIDENCE STATUS Providence had a bye week last weekend and most recently fell to Connecticut, 105-49, on Feb. 12. The Friars have lost five of their last six contests, and both of their BIG EAST victories came in overtime (Villanova/Pittsburgh). Symone Roberts leads the way for PC with 14.5 points and 4.6 assists per game. The Friars are giving up a league-high 70.9 points per game.
MORRIS BREAKS THREE-POINT RECORD Senior guard Brittany Morris is the new Seton Hall career three-point leader with 159 triples over her three-plus seasons as a Pirate. She passed Ebonie Williams (‘07-10) and Jodi Brooks (‘90-'94) old mark of 156-career threes by draining a career-high six three pointers at USF on Feb. 16, vaulting from third to first in school history. She leads Seton Hall with 55 threes so far this season, which is the third-highest single-season mark in school history, and her six three pointers against USF were just one shy of tying the single-game mark of seven, set last season by Terry Green.
LONG-RANGE BARRAGE Seton Hall put on an amazing long-distance shooting display in its comeback attempt at USF on Feb. 16. The Pirates' last eight made field goals of the game were all from three-point range and those buckets came over a span of just 6:45. Seton Hall made a season-high 10 three pointers in the game, falling just one shy of the school record of 11.
BROWN BIG ON BOARDS Sophomore forward Alexis Brown really crashed the glass against USF on Feb. 16, pulling down an SHU individual season-high 13 rebounds, which actually eclipsed her own old SHU current season-best mark of 12 set against Mount St. Mary's on Dec. 16. Brown has led Seton Hall in rebounding eight times this season and leads the team with 5.8 rebounds per game.
DROPPING DIMES Redshirt-sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons has dished out at least five assists in five of Seton Hall's last six games and is averaging 5.2 assists per game over that stretch. Most recently she led the Pirates with seven assists against USF on Feb. 16. She leads Seton Hall and ranks 10th in the BIG EAST with 3.8 assists per game this season.
SELLOUT AT WALSH A capacity crowd braved the snow and cold to come out and see Seton Hall take on Notre Dame at Walsh Gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 9, as the Pirates announced a sellout with 2,600 fans in attendance. It was the first sellout at Walsh since SHU hosted Connecticut on Dec. 9, 2011.
CLOSING IN ON 900 With a team-high 15 points against USF on Jan. 22, senior guard Brittany Morris eclipsed 800 points for her career. She has scored 891 points over her three-plus seasons at Seton Hall and is averaging 8.4 points per game in 104-career games played. This season she leads the Pirates with 12.8 points per game which ranks 22nd in the BIG EAST.
BACK-TO-BACK Freshman forward Tabatha Richardson-Smith scored 12 points to lead the Pirates offensively against Villanova on Feb. 13, and it was the fourth time this season she led Seton Hall in scoring. It was also the first time in her career she scored in double figures in back-to-back games, as she was coming off a 10-point showing against Notre Dame on Feb. 9. Richardson-Smith has appeared in all 25 games for the Pirates and ranks fourth on the team averaging 5.4 points per game.
PLAY 4KAY GAME Seton Hall will hosted its annual Play 4Kay game to raise breast cancer awareness and benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund when it faced Notre Dame on Saturday, Feb. 9. ALEXIS BROWN PACES PIRATES AT ‘CUSE Sophomore Alexis Brown led Seton Hall in scoring and rebounding with 10 points and seven rebounds when the Pirates faced Syracuse on Jan. 30. It marked the first time in her career Brown paced the Pirates offensively and the seventh time this season she was the rebounding leader.
PIRATES SNAP STREAK WITH WIN OVER RUTGERS Seton Hall put a stop to a 12-game losing streak to in-state rival Rutgers University with a 45-42 victory over the Scarlet Knights on Jan. 27. It was the Pirates' first win over Rutgers in exactly 4,000 days, since a 61-51 win in South Orange on Feb. 13, 2002. Senior Brittany Morris scored a game-high 18 points and redshirt sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons had 11 points and five assists in the win. Seton Hall held Rutgers to 1-for-12 shooting over the final 8:23.

She scored 19 points on 3-for-5 long-range shooting in the Pirates' 45-42 victory over Rutgers on Jan. 27, and led the team with 15 points and three three-pointers against USF on Jan. 22. It is the first time in her career Morris earned a weekly conference award and she is the second SHU student-athlete to receive the accolade this season.
CAUGHT IN A WEBB Junior center Brittany Webb swatted a career-high four shots in Seton Hall's 45-42 win over Rutgers on Jan. 27. The four blocked shots were the most in a single game for a Seton Hall player this season and the highest individual total since Tajay Ashmeade recorded four blocks against William & Mary on Dec. 21, 2011.
BUILDING BLOCKS Seton Hall recorded a season-high eight team blocks, led by junior Brittany Webb (4) and senior Alexandra Maseko (3) in its win over Rutgers on Jan. 27, which is the most blocks in a single game for the Pirates since they finished with 10 against Florida Gulf Coast on Nov. 11, 2011.
ALL-AROUND ALEXIS BROWN Versatile sophomore guard Alexis Brown has continued to prove she can be a factor for Seton Hall every night, regardless of whether or not she scores the basketball. Brown fills up the stat sheet nearly every game, ranking first in rebounding (5.8 rpg), third in assists (60), second in steals (39) and third in minutes per game (27.9).
SIMMONS SEES STREAK COME TO AN END Redshirt-sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons saw her 10-game double-digit scoring streak come to an end when she tallied three points against USF on Jan. 22. The 10-straight double-figure games were a personal record for the Pirate point guard, and she has 23 double-figure scoring games in her career. She averaged 15.0 points and 4.7 assists per game during that 10-game stretch.
PIRATES SET NEW PROGRAM RECORD FOR THREE-POINT ATTEMPTS Seton Hall tied its then season-high with nine made three-point field goals when it faced Georgetown on Jan. 19, which also tied for the fifth-most in program history. The Pirates attempted a season-high 30 three-pointers, which set a new school record, breaking the old mark of 26 set three times before, including earlier this season against Wyoming on Nov. 23.
GREEN REACHES 600 CAREER-POINTS Senior Terry Green scored the 600th point of her career when the Pirates faced Syracuse on Jan. 30. She passed 500-career points in the Pirates' season opener against NJIT on Nov. 9, and is averaging 5.0 points per game this season.
BRITTANY MORRIS SETS SCHOOL RECORD Senior guard Brittany Morris has attempted a team-high 173 three pointers so far this season and now holds the SHU program record with 515 three-point attempts in her career. She passed Ebonie Williams (‘07-'10) for the all-time school record with 11 three-point shots attempted against Georgetown on Jan. 19.
WEBB SHINES UNDER THE BRIGHT LIGHTS Junior center Brittany Webb enjoyed one of her most productive games of the season when the Pirates took on St. John's at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 12. She finished the game with a season-high seven points while leading Seton Hall with six rebounds.
WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS ARENA When Seton Hall faced St. John's University on Saturday, Jan. 12, it was a truly unique experience for the Pirates as the contest took place at the World's Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden, as a part of a St. John's men's and women's hoops double header. It was the first time in program history the Pirates played at game at Madison Square Garden.
MASEKO NAMED TO HONOR ROLL Senior forward Alexandra Maseko was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Jan. 7 after recording a double-double with a career-high 16 points to go along with 10 rebounds in the Pirates' BIG EAST opening win over Pittsburgh on Jan. 5. It marked the first time in her career Maseko earned conference weekly accolades and the first time this season Seton Hall has landed a player on the BIG EAST Honor Roll.
THAT'S A GOOD START The Seton Hall women's basketball team won its BIG EAST home and away openers for the first time since the 2007-08 season, which was also the last time the Pirates got off to a 2-0 start in conference play.
BIG ROAD WIN Seton Hall's 64-56 victory at Cincinnati on Jan. 9 was its first BIG EAST road win since a 51-44 decision at Cincinnati on Feb. 12, 2011. It was also the Pirates' largest margin of victory in a road BIG EAST contest since a 55-47 win at West Virginia on Feb. 4, 2009.
STRONGEST HALF OF THE YEAR It was strong second-half shooting that helped the Pirates hold off Cincinnati and pick up a 64-56 win over the Bearcats on Jan. 9. Seton Hall shot 13-for-23 (56.5 percent) from the field in the second half of that game, the best single-half field goal percentage of the season for the Pirates.
PIRATES PASS BIG EAST WIN TOTAL With its 64-56 victory over Cincinnati on Jan. 9, Seton Hall improved to 2-0 in the BIG EAST and eclipsed its conference win total from each of the last three seasons in the process.
