ABOUT THE MATCHUP Seton Hall will head up to Storrs, Conn., to face the No. 3/3 University of Connecticut Huskies on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 4 p.m. It will be the 59th all-time meeting between Seton Hall and Connecticut, with the Huskies leading the all-time series, 48-10. Last season Connecticut picked up a 70-37 win over Seton Hall in South Orange.
SETON HALL STATUS Seton Hall saw a couple of players record new career-highs in scoring as it defeated Providence, 72-56, on Wednesday night. Senior Brittany Morris nailed six three pointers for a second-straight game on the way to a career-high 27 points while redshirt sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons shot 8-for-9 from the floor to reach a new career-high with 21 points. The 72 points scored against the Friars were the most for the Pirates in a BIG EAST contest this season.
CONNECTICUT STATUS Connecticut had its 12-game losing streak snapped by No. 1 Baylor, 76-70, on Monday night in Hartford. The Huskies are currently 24-2 overall and 11-1 in the BIG EAST, and their only two losses of the season are to the top-two ranked teams in the nation, Baylor and Notre Dame. Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis leads Connecticut with 17.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
MORRIS BREAKS THREE-POINT RECORD Senior guard Brittany Morris is the new Seton Hall career three-point leader with 165 triples over her three-plus seasons as a Pirate. She passed Ebonie Williams (‘07-10) and Jodi Brooks (‘90-'94) old mark of 156-career threes by draining a career-high six three pointers at USF on Feb. 16, vaulting from third to first in school history. She leads Seton Hall with 61 threes so far this season, which is the second-highest single-season mark in school history.
ALMOST TOURNAMENT TIME Seton Hall is currently tied with Marquette University for 11th place in the BIG EAST standings, but if the BIG EAST Championship started today, the Pirates would be the 12-seed in the conference tournament as a result of Marquette's head-to-head win over the Pirates earlier this season. Seton Hall would face Providence College in the first round of the tournament on Friday, March 8, at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn., at 4 p.m.
CAREER DAY Seton Hall's two leading scorers, senior Brittany Morris and redshirt sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons both posted career-best scoring outings when the Pirates defeated Providence, 72-56, on Feb. 20. Morris poured in 27 points against the Friars, besting her old career-high of 26 points, behind 10 field goals and six three pointers. Simmons scored 21 points for her first-career 20-point game, shooting a blistering 8-for-9 (88.9 percent) from the field.
1,000 IN THE CROSS-HAIRS With her career-high 27 points against Providence on Feb. 20, senior Brittany Morris passed 900 points for her career and is now closing in on 1,000. With 918 career-points she needs 82 more to become the 20th player in Seton Hall history to reach the 1,000-point plateau. She is just 72 points shy of tying Ashley Bush (‘01-'05) for 20th-place in school history with 990-career points. Morris leads Seton Hall and ranks 19th in the BIG EAST with 13.3 points per game this season.
LIGHTS OUT Behind the most efficient shooting performance for a Seton Hall player this season, redshirt sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons scored a career-high 21 points in the Pirates' win over Providence on Feb. 20. Simmons shot 8-for-9 from the field in the win with her 88.9 percent shooting going down as the best individual performance of the season for The Hall.
OFFENSIVE EFFICIENCY Considering several of Seton Hall's best individual offensive performances of the season came in the win over Providence on Feb. 20, it also makes sense that as a team the Pirates displayed their most efficient offensive game of the year. Seton Hall shot a season-high 56.5 percent (26-for-46) from the field and also recorded its best half of the season, knocking down 60.0 percent (12-for-20) of its baskets in the second-half alone. The Pirates outrebounded the Friars by a +16 margin, grabbing a season-high 30 defensive rebounds.
THREE-POINT TRENDING UPWARD Seton Hall has knocked down at least seven three pointers in four of its last five games and the Pirates are shooting 35.2 percent (37-for-105) from downtown during that stretch, averaging 7.4 three-pointers per game, including a season-high 10 treys at USF on Feb. 16.
BIG EAST WIN TOTAL With its 72-56 victory over Providence on Feb. 20, Seton Hall picked up its fourth BIG EAST win of the season. It is the first time the Pirates have recorded four conference victories since the 2008-09 season when Seton Hall finished 4-12 in BIG EAST action.
MOST WINS FOR DONOVAN After winning eight games in each of her first two seasons at Seton Hall, head coach Anne Donovan passed that mark and picked up her ninth win of the season with the Pirates' 72-56 victory over Providence on Feb. 20. In her third season as the Pirates' head coach Donovan has recorded new personal bests with four BIG EAST victories and nine overall wins.
LONG-RANGE BARRAGE Seton Hall put on an amazing long-distance shooting display in its comeback attempt at USF on Feb. 16. The Pirates' last eight made field goals of the game were all from three-point range and those buckets came over a span of just 6:45. Seton Hall made a season-high 10 three pointers in the game, falling just one shy of the school record of 11.
BROWN BIG ON BOARDS Sophomore forward Alexis Brown really crashed the glass against USF on Feb. 16, pulling down an SHU individual season-high 13 rebounds, which actually eclipsed her own old SHU current season-best mark of 12 set against Mount St. Mary's on Dec. 16. Brown has led Seton Hall in rebounding eight times this season and leads the team with 6.0 rebounds per game.
DROPPING DIMES Redshirt-sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons has dished out at least five assists in five of Seton Hall's last seven games and is averaging 5.0 assists per game over that stretch. She leads Seton Hall and ranks 10th in the BIG EAST with 3.8 assists per game this season.
SELLOUT AT WALSH A capacity crowd braved the snow and cold to come out and see Seton Hall take on Notre Dame at Walsh Gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 9, as the Pirates announced a sellout with 2,600 fans in attendance. It was the first sellout at Walsh since SHU hosted Connecticut on Dec. 9, 2011.
BACK-TO-BACK Freshman forward Tabatha Richardson-Smith scored 12 points to lead the Pirates offensively against Villanova on Feb. 13, and it was the fourth time this season she led Seton Hall in scoring. It was also the first time in her career she scored in double figures in back-to-back games, as she was coming off a 10-point showing against Notre Dame on Feb. 9. Richardson-Smith has appeared in all 26 games for the Pirates and ranks fifth on the team averaging 5.5 points per game.
PLAY 4KAY GAME Seton Hall will hosted its annual Play 4Kay game to raise breast cancer awareness and benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund when it faced Notre Dame on Saturday, Feb. 9. PIRATES SNAP STREAK WITH WIN OVER RUTGERS Seton Hall put a stop to a 12-game losing streak to in-state rival Rutgers University with a 45-42 victory over the Scarlet Knights on Jan. 27. It was the Pirates' first win over Rutgers in exactly 4,000 days, since a 61-51 win in South Orange on Feb. 13, 2002. Senior Brittany Morris scored a game-high 18 points and redshirt sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons had 11 points and five assists in the win. Seton Hall held Rutgers to 1-for-12 shooting over the final 8:23.
MORRIS NAMED TO WEEKLY HONOR ROLL Senior guard Brittany Morris was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Jan. 28, after averaging a team-best 17 points per game in a 1-1 week for Seton Hall. She scored 19 points on 3-for-5 long-range shooting in the Pirates' 45-42 victory over Rutgers on Jan. 27, and led the team with 15 points and three three-pointers against USF on Jan. 22. It is the first time in her career Morris earned a weekly conference award and she is the second SHU student-athlete to receive the accolade this season.
CAUGHT IN A WEBB Junior center Brittany Webb swatted a career-high four shots in Seton Hall's 45-42 win over Rutgers on Jan. 27. The four blocked shots were the most in a single game for a Seton Hall player this season and the highest individual total since Tajay Ashmeade recorded four blocks against William & Mary on Dec. 21, 2011.
BUILDING BLOCKS Seton Hall recorded a season-high eight team blocks, led by junior Brittany Webb (4) and senior Alexandra Maseko (3) in its win over Rutgers on Jan. 27, which is the most blocks in a single game for the Pirates since they finished with 10 against Florida Gulf Coast on Nov. 11, 2011.
ALL-AROUND ALEXIS BROWN Versatile sophomore guard Alexis Brown has continued to prove she can be a factor for Seton Hall every night, regardless of whether or not she scores the basketball. Brown fills up the stat sheet nearly every game, ranking first in rebounding (6.0 rpg), third in assists (65), second in steals (41) and third in minutes per game (27.9).
SIMMONS SEES STREAK COME TO AN END Redshirt-sophomore Ka-Deidre Simmons saw her 10-game double-digit scoring streak come to an end when she tallied three points against USF on Jan. 22. The 10-straight double-figure games were a personal record for the Pirate point guard, and she has 24 double-figure scoring games in her career. She averaged 15.0 points and 4.7 assists per game during that 10-game stretch.
PIRATES SET NEW PROGRAM RECORD FOR THREE-POINT ATTEMPTS Seton Hall tied its then season-high with nine made three-point field goals when it faced Georgetown on Jan. 19, which also tied for the fifth-most in program history. The Pirates attempted a season-high 30 three-pointers, which set a new school record, breaking the old mark of 26 set three times before, including earlier this season against Wyoming on Nov. 23.

WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS ARENA When Seton Hall faced St. John's University on Saturday, Jan. 12, it was a truly unique experience for the Pirates as the contest took place at the World's Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden, as a part of a St. John's men's and women's hoops double header. It was the first time in program history the Pirates played at game at Madison Square Garden.
