NEW YORK - The BIG EAST Conference on Thursday announced the full slate of women's basketball games to be broadcast on the newly formed BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) for the upcoming 2014-15 season, and the Seton Hall Pirates will be featured five times.
A pair of home non-conference competitions along with three BIG EAST matchups comprise the Pirates' appearances on the BIG EAST Digital Network, where all games will be available via the FOX Sports GO mobile application.
Combined with Seton Hall's previously announced four nationally televised games to air on Fox Sports 1 and the CBS Sports Network, the unprecedented exposure for the Pirates will now include nine regular season games that will be available to a national audience.
The five games to appear on the BIG EAST Digital Network will be:
- Seton Hall vs. Illinios - Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 7:00 p.m.
- Seton Hall vs. Georgia - Sunday, Dec. 28 at 2:00 p.m.
- Seton Hall vs. Marquette - Friday, Jan. 16 at 7:00 p.m.
- Seton Hall at DePaul - Friday, Feb. 13 at 8:00 p.m.
- Seton Hall vs. Georgetown - Friday, Feb. 20 at 7:00 p.m.
The BIG EAST Digital Network will air a total of 30 BIG EAST women's basketball regular season matchups, including 11 non-conference games and 19 BIG EAST tilts. The schedule tips off when Texas A&M pays a visit to McGrath-Phillips Arena and DePaul University on Friday, Nov. 14.
Additionally, the BIG EAST Digital Network will air six games from the BIG EAST Tournament, which takes place Saturday-Tuesday, March 7-10, and once again will be held in Rosemont, Ill., at Allstate Arena. First round action in addition to all four quarterfinal matchups will air on the BEDN, while semifinal action will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2 and the championship game will be televised on Fox Sports 1.
Announced earlier this month, the BIG EAST Digital Network is a partnership between the Conference and FOX Sports to create a conference-specific, year-round HD digital channel via FOX Sports' mobile application, FOX Sports GO. BEDN is offering free live streaming of 80-100 sporting events annually, in addition to the authenticated live streaming of BIG EAST events on FOX Sports networks.
Including the expansive television schedule, BIG EAST teams will have over 80 regular-season games available to a national audience via FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports 2, FOX Sports GO, CBS Sports and ESPN.
The BIG EAST Digital Network will have its own branded channel within FOX Sports GO, the mobile app that provides live streaming video of FOX Sports content at home or on-the-go. The BIG EAST is the first collegiate conference to be hosted on the network's mobile platform.
FOX Sports GO is currently available for iOS, Android, Kindle Fire tablets and Fire phones, select Windows devices, and on desktops through FOXSportsGO.com. Fans can download the mobile app for free from the iTunes App Store, Google Play, Amazon App Store and Windows Store.
FOX Sports GO users who are also subscribers of participating video providers can live stream the BIG EAST men's and women's basketball telecasts, plus the Olympic sports championships, carried on FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports 2, FOX Sports Regional Networks, and FOX broadcast network. The BIG EAST women's basketball events and the Olympic sports contests that are not televised by FOX Sports do not require a video subscription.
The BIG EAST will oversee all production on the Digital Network. Rush Media Company will serve as the conference's third-party production services supplier.
The Seton Hall University women's basketball team returns four starters, including its top two scorers from a year ago, to a team that went 20-14 overall and advanced to the third round of the WNIT for the first time in program history.
The Pirates open their 2014-15 season on Friday, Nov. 14, when it hosts Rider University in the First Round of the Preseason WNIT at Walsh Gymnasium in South Orange, N.J. Tipoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
