Shelbey Manthorpe Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Seton Hall senior Shelbey Manthorpe (Merion Station, Pa.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
Manthorpe was named Seton Hall Classic Most Valuable Player for her performance in three matches last weekend. Against Fordham on Friday, she had 23 assists, eight digs, seven kills and four blocks in a quick three-set sweep. In the first match on Saturday, Manthorpe tallied a double-double with a match-high 27 assists and 17 digs vs. Dartmouth. In the nightcap vs. Middle Tennessee State, she recorded a career-high 53 assists to go with nine digs, six kills and four blocks. The Pirates' setter connected on .318 of her attacks over the three games.
Marquette's Meghan Niemann was named BIG EAST Player of the Week, while Butler's Makayla Ferguson earned Freshman of the Week honors. Joining Manthorpe on the honor roll were Butler's Belle Obert, Creighton's Kelli Browning, Marquette's Lindsey Gosh and St. John's Aleksandra Wachowicz.
Manthorpe and the rest of the Pirates will return to action this Wednesday when they return to Walsh Gym to begin the BIG EAST portion of their schedule vs. Providence. The match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
