LAS VEGAS, NEV. - Freshman Sophia Coffey (Sierra Madre, Calif.) finished one dig shy of a double-double, but the Seton Hall volleyball team dropped its season opener to Nebraska-Omaha, 3-0 (23-25, 22-25, 17-25), on Friday in its first match at the 2015 UNLV Invitational.
Coffey finished with a team-high 23 assists to go with nine digs in her first collegiate match.
Seton Hall (0-1) recorded an impressive .317 attack percentage in set one, but had only a .077 in set two and a .000 in set three. Omaha's blocking was the key to the Pirates' low attack percentages. The Mavericks blocked a combined 20 attacks in the match.
Turning Point
In set one, the Pirates used a 6-0 run to tie the score at 22, but the second kill of the set for Omaha's Amy Taylor ended the run and gave the Mavericks the lead for good. Omaha won set one, 25-23. The Pirates never led in sets two or three.
