NEW YORK, N.Y. – Seton Hall senior Amanda Hansen (Pewaukee, Wis.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
Hansen was a key component to the Pirates going 2-1 last weekend at the Cornell Invitational. The middle blocker had nine kills and just two attack errors in Seton Hall's four-set loss to Loyola on Friday. On Saturday, Hansen had a match-high 10 kills to go with four blocks and a .304 attack percentage in a sweep of Cornell. Later that day, she had arguably her finest match as a collegian. Hansen recorded career-high 20 kills to go with five blocks, three digs and a team-high .439 attack percentage. She had just two attack errors in 41 attempts. Hansen's output marks the first time a Pirate has recorded 20 kills in a match since Stacey Manthorpe had 22 vs. DePaul on Nov. 15, 2014. For her efforts, Hansen was named to the Cornell Invitational All-Tournament Team. Over the weekend, Hansen also moved into fourth place on Seton Hall's career blocks list.
St. John's Karin Palgutova was named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Marquette's Taylor Louis earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors. Those joining Hansen on the Honor Roll include: Creighton's Lauren Smith, DePaul's Brittany Maxwell, Providence's Kayla Fitzgerald and Villanova's Emma Pettit.
Hansen and the rest of the Pirates will return to action on Friday, Sept. 25 when they open the BIG EAST portion of their schedule at defending champion Creighton. Match time is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET.
