RIVER HILLS, WIS. - The Seton Hall men's golf team will return to the links this Sunday for the first two of three rounds at the 2016 Marquette Intercollegiate, Oct. 2-3.
Â
Tournament Details:
MARQUETTE INTERCOLLEGIATE
Host:Â Marquette University
Location:Â River Hills, Wis.
Course:Â Milwaukee Country Club
Course Vitals:Â Par-70, 7,097 yards
Dates:Â October 2-3, 2016, Three Rounds
Â
The Course:
Milwaukee Country Club was formed in 1894 and the original course opened in 1896. In 1911, the club moved to its present site in River Hills. In 1929, the existing course, designed by Harry Colt and Charles Alison, opened. In 1974, Robert Trent Jones Sr. served as a consultant for minor revisions to the course.
Â
The Field:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Marquette, the small, but very talented field is comprised of eight other teams including: Liberty, Mississippi, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Southern Methodist, UCLA, Valparaiso and Wisconsin. Individuals from Marquette and Wisconsin will comprise a "B" team for their respective institutions as well.
Â
The Lineup:
Seton Hall will be bringing the following lineup, in order as indicated, to River Hills.
Â
Â
Senior Lloyd Jefferson Go is competing at the 2016 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship next week in New Songdo City, South Korea, and therefore isn't with the Pirates in Wisconsin.
Â
Last Time Out:
Go shot a second consecutive 3-under-par, 69, as the Pirates finished third at the Hartford Hawks Invitational on September 20.
Â
Go finished his round with an eagle to place fourth among 107 golfers with a 6-under-par, 69-69-138. He finished four shots behind Central Florida's Donnie Trosper for the individual title. Go's 138 is the lowest par-72 two-round score in Seton Hall history. It's also his record-breaking 10th sub-par tournament of his career, edging Seton Hall Athletics Hall of Famer Eugene Smith who graduated with nine.
Â
Collectively, the Pirates were only one shot worse in round two, finishing with a 5-under-par, 283. Seton Hall ended the tournament at 11-under-par with a 282-283-565, four strokes behind Central Florida for second place and seven shots behind the team champion Cal Poly. St. John's, the Pirates' lone BIG EAST competition in the field, finished seventh, 20 shots behind The Hall.
Â
Tee Times:
The field will play two rounds (36 holes) with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday. On Monday, a single final round will be played with tee times starting at 8:00 a.m. through 9:30 a.m.
