SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Fresh off a shutout victory on Saturday night, the Seton Hall men's soccer team (3-6-1) takes its final step out of conference play to host Princeton (4-3-1) in the non-league finale on Wednesday night. The Pirates and Tigers will square off at Owen T. Carroll Field with a 7 p.m. kick broadcast on the Pirate Sports Network.
The Hall secured a 2-0 win over Marquette on Saturday, using goals from Francisco Alderete (Salta, Argentina) and Jonathan Jimenez (Cape Coral, Fla.) to back a Julian Spindler (Weiersbach, Germany). With the win the Pirates improved to 2-1-1 in South Orange this season, coming off the heels of a four-game road swing. Princeton most recently drew Dartmouth, 2-2, on Saturday night in its Ivy League opener.
Seton Hall is 11-14-5 all-time against Princeton, with the two sides having met once a year since 1986. The Hall is looking to snap a streak of eight in a row won by the Tigers, though all but one of those meetings have been decided by one goal. Last season The Hall dropped a 3-2 decision in Princeton, with goals from Danny Bartok (Union, N.J.) and Samuel Geiler.
Quick Kicks
Following Wednesday's match, the Pirates will begin the late-season conference push with six BIG EAST contests to close the regular season slate. First up is a trip to DePaul on Saturday, Oct. 8.
