SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – A trio of former Seton Hall women's basketball standouts are continuing their playing careers overseas this season. Tiffany Jones ('16) is currently in Portugal for her first professional season, while 2016 WNBA Draft Pick Shakena Richardson ('16) is heading to Lithuania to start her career. Ka-Deidre Simmons ('15) will begin her second professional season overseas, playing in Romania this year.
Jones recently completed a two-year career at The Hall by becoming the fourth BIG EAST rebounding champion in Seton Hall history, averaging 9.1 caroms per game in conference play. Overall for her senior season the forward scored 9.8 points and grabbed 8.6 rebounds per game, adding 31 steals and 48 blocked shots. Overseas, she will compete for Uniao Sportiva in Portugal's First Division and EuroCup.
The first WNBA Draft Pick in Seton Hall history, Richardson was selected by the Dallas Wings with the 30th overall pick in the third round back in April. She will continue her pro career in Lithuania, playing for Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas in the Lithuanian First Division and EuroCup. During her grad transfer season at Seton Hall in 2015-16 Richardson ranked second in the BIG EAST with 5.4 assists per game and also scored 12.4 points per game.
One of The Hall's all-time greats, Simmons returns overseas this year after playing in Iceland and Finland last season. The 2015 All-America Honorable Mention ranks first in Seton Hall history in assists (562), third in points (1,717) and second in steals (257). She will compete in Romania's first division for Iasi in the upcoming campaign.
The Hall has long had a tradition of Pirates in the Pros. Jones and Richardson join a total of 19 former Pirates to play overseas, while four have played in the WNBA or been part of a preseason roster.
