Pirates Welcome Evans And Philoxy

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Head coach Anthony Bozzella and the Seton Hall women's basketball team have announced the signing of a pair of student-athletes for the 2017-18 season during the early signing period. Kimi Evans will join the program from St. John Vianney High School in Holmdel, N.J. while Brooklyn-native Selena Philoxy comes from South Shore High School.
"I am extremely excited to add these two tremendously talented girls to our family at Seton Hall," said Bozzella.
"When my staff and I came in we made it a priority to secure the top local players and this class is a prime example of keeping the best players in New Jersey and New York City home," the fourth-year head coach added.
Kimi Evans || 6'4 || C || Jackson, N.J. || St. John Vianney
Named to the NJ.com All-Junior First Team in 2016…starred for a St. John Vianney squad that won the New Jersey State Tournament of Champions and ranked No. 9 in the nation in the final USA TODAY poll…Named News12 Varsity and NJ.com Second Team All-State…averaged 13.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game as a junior…also stars on the volleyball team at St. John Vianney, notching over 300 kills and 60 blocks in the last two seasons.
Bozzella on Evans: "Kimi is a classic, old-school style center that can play with her back to the basket. We are excited about her winning mentality and low-post skills coming from one of the best programs in our state. We think that she can have an immediate impact and become one of the top post players in the BIG EAST."
Selena Philoxy || 6'2 || F || Brooklyn, N.Y. || South Shore
Transferred to South Shore High School for her junior season and led the Lady Vikings to a PSAL Class AA title…averaged 11 points and 10.5 rebounds per game for South Shore…named the Brooklyn Daily Player of the Year…an NYSSWA Third Team All-State selection…News12 Varsity First Team All-NYC.
Bozzella on Philoxy: "Selena has an unbelievable amount of versatility and athleticism that will translate in a big way to the style we like to play. Her offensive game is multi-faceted and she can really rebound the basketball. We anticipate her being a match-up nightmare for us from the second she sets foot on campus."
The Pirates open the 2016-17 campaign on Friday, Nov. 11 when they welcome Savannah State to Walsh Gym at 11 a.m.
