Bozzella Announces Pair of Staff Changes

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Head coach Anthony Bozzella and the Seton Hall women's basketball program have announced a pair of staffing changes for the upcoming 2016-17 season. Marissa Flagg will serve as an assistant coach, while Allison Skrec will assume the role of Director of Basketball Operations.
Both adjustments come to members of the coaching staff that have been part of the program for back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances over the last two seasons. Flagg has served on Bozzella's staff for each of his three seasons at The Hall, spending one year as the Coordinator of Basketball Operations and two as Director of Basketball Operations. Skrec takes over as Director of Basketball Operations after spending the last two seasons as the Video Coordinator Intern and Coordinator of Basketball Operations.
"We are extremely excited to keep these two fantastic young basketball minds a part of our family here at Seton Hall," Bozzella said.
Flagg was a standout point guard for Bozzella at Iona from 2006-11, ranking top-five in the MAAC in both steals and assists during her senior season. Before coming to The Hall to begin her coaching career the Queens-native spent a full season playing basketball overseas for the San Juan Warrios in San Juan, Puerto Rico where she led her league in both steals and assists. Flagg earned a criminal justice degree from Iona in 2011 and received a Masters of Business Administration in Public Relations from Iona in 2013.
In her new role with the Pirates, Flagg will mentor The Hall's point guards and wings as well as play a heavy role in recruiting.
"I've known Marissa since she was 16 years old when I started recruiting her and I have felt like she's been a part of my family ever since," Bozzella said.
Skrec will enter her third season as a member of the staff at SHU in '16-17. Also a former star point guard, she recently completed a Master's degree from Seton Hall in Psychological Studies. During her playing career at Manhattan College, Skrec was a three-time All-MAAC Academic Team honoree and finished 14th nationally in assists during her senior season. A New Jersey-native, Skrec was the two-time Union County Player of the Year.
In her new role as Director of Basketball Operations, Skrec will coordinate travel, arrangements, meals and assist in scouting efforts and film exchange.
"I go back with Allison's father, I've known him since I was a senior in high school," Bozzella said. "Ally possesses the same incredible work ethic that both her father and mother have and that is just one of the reasons I'm incredibly excited for to continue to be a part of our staff."
The Pirates recently completed a Foreign Tour in Canada and will be back on the hardwood for the season opener against Savannah State on Nov. 11 at Walsh Gym.
