Fournier Named to Preseason All-BIG EAST Team

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Senior Tessa Fournier (Redondo Beach, Calif.) was unanimously named to the 2016 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team, while the Seton Hall volleyball team was picked to finish seventh by the conference coaches in the annual preseason poll.
A three-time AVCA All-Region honoree, Fournier was named BIG EAST Libero of the Year for a second consecutive season in 2015, and led the BIG EAST in both digs (583) and digs per set (5.16). In conference games only, she was even more impressive with a digs per set average of 5.57. Named to Louisville's Active Ankle Challenge All-Tournament Team, Fournier recorded at least 20 digs in a single-match 14 times last season, including a season-high 29 digs vs. St. John's. On Sept. 4, she tallied her first career double-double with 21 digs and 10 assists in a three-set victory over Notre Dame.
Fournier's 583 digs last year is the fifth-highest single-season total in Seton Hall history. She also moved into third place on the Pirates' career digs list with 1,605, trailing only her libero predecessor Alyssa Warren (2,381) and assistant coach Allie Matters (1,945).
For a fourth straight season, Creighton was selected as the early favorite by the coaches to win the BIG EAST in 2016, receiving nine of 10 first-place votes.
Creighton's Jaali Winters was named Preseason BIG EAST Player of the Year.
The Seton Hall women's volleyball team will open its 2016 season on August 26 as part of the Golden Dome Invitational in Indiana. The Pirates will face host Notre Dame in the opener at 7:00 p.m. ET. The following day they will play both Western Michigan at 10:00 a.m. and Cleveland State at 4:30 p.m.
