Thelen Named to BIG EAST Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll

The Seton Hall outside hitter helped lead the Pirates to three victories last weekend.
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Seton Hall women's volleyball sophomore Abby Thelen (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.

Thelen helped lead the Pirates to a perfect 3-0 record last week and the Blue Raider Bash title. The outside hitter recorded a career-high 18 kills to go along with seven digs, three blocks and a .289 attack percentage in Seton Hall's four-set victory over Illinois State on Friday. On Saturday, Thelen had six kills, three digs and two blocks in a straight set win over host Middle Tennessee State.Â

This is the first time Thelen has been honored by the BIG EAST with weekly recognition.

Marquette's Taylor Louis was named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Creighton's Megan Ballenger earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors. Those joining Thelen on the Honor Roll include: Creighton's Taryn Kloth, DePaul's Brittany Maxwell, Providence's Michelle Cruz and Villanova's Amanda Pedersen-Henry.

Thelen and the rest of the Pirates will return to action on Tuesday, September 13 when they make the short trip to Hempstead, N.Y. for a match at Hofstra. Match time is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
