NEW YORK – The Seton Hall women's basketball schedule is now complete for the 2016-17 season as the BIG EAST conference has announced dates, times and TV information for the 18-game league schedule. The Pirates will open conference play with the league's first nationally-televised contest of the season on Dec. 30 against St. John's, one of three games for The Hall broadcast on the FOX Sports Networks.
In addition to the league opener on FS2, the Pirates will play on FS1 on Jan. 2 at Butler before another FS2 game at home against Providence on Jan. 20. All BIG EAST contests not nationally televised will be available on the BIG EAST Digital Network via the FOX Sports GO app.
"The BIG EAST conference schedule is always extremely challenging and this year will be no different," fourth-year head coach Anthony Bozzella said. "We are excited to open the league slate with a great rivalry game and are hoping to make the most of our national television opportunities."
The league slate kicks off with the local rivalry contest against St. John's, with the Pirates welcoming the Red Storm to Walsh Gym in the final contest of 2016. The Hall hits the road following that match-up to visit Butler (Jan. 2) and Xavier (Jan. 4) to ring in the new year in the Midwest.
Home dates with DePaul (Jan. 8) and Marquette (Jan. 10) follow before a road swing at Villanova (Jan. 13) and Georgetown (Jan. 15) mark the league schedule's shift to its normal Friday-Sunday fixtures. The Pirates will then begin a season-long four-game homestand, hosting Providence (Jan. 20) on FS1 before bringing in Creighton (Jan. 22), Xavier (Jan. 27) and Butler (Jan. 29).
The Pirates close their league schedule with five of seven contests on the road, first venturing to Marquette (Feb. 3) and DePaul (Feb. 5) to begin February. The final two home contests will be Georgetown (Feb. 10) and Villanova (Feb. 12), with the latter marking Seton Hall's Senior Day. The Hall hits the road to close the season with three away from home, traveling to Creighton (Feb. 17) and Providence (Feb. 19) before the regular season finale at St. John's (Feb. 29).
The BIG EAST Tournament kicks off from Marquette's Al McGuire Center on March 4, with the quarterfinals airing on FS2 on March 5. FS1 will have coverage of both the tournament semifinals on March 6 and the league title game on March 7.
The Hall previously announced its non-conference schedule, with the season kicking off on Nov. 11 against Savannah State. Marquee match-ups include home dates against Boston College and Wake Forest along with trips to Minnesota, Princeton and Rutgers. Season tickets are on-sale now while individual game tickets will be available on Oct. 17.
