Seton Hall is coming off a strong first weekend of BIG EAST Conference play. The Pirates outlasted Butler on Friday in five sets for their first BIG EAST win of the season. Sophomore Cherise Hennigan had a career-high 23 kills and a team-best .364 attack percentage in the win. Tessa Fournier had a season-high 33 digs. On Saturday, The Hall downed Xavier in four sets. Sophomore Abby Thelen had a match-high 17 kills to go with seven digs, while Sophia Coffey finished one dig shy of a double-double for the third consecutive match.Â

Georgetown enters Tuesday's matchup with a 5-10 overall record and a mark of 1-1 in conference play. The Hoyas opened BIG EAST play last Tuesday with a four-set loss at home to St. John's. They bounced back however, with a surprising sweep at Villanova on Saturday. Seton Hall and Georgetown have had one common opponent so far this year. The Hoyas lost to Towson in four sets on Sept. 9, while the Pirates were able to defeat the Tigers in four sets back on Sept. 3. Georgetown has won 22 of 25 all-time meetings with the Pirates, including their last meeting a five-set victory in Walsh Gym last season.

On Saturday, the Pirates will make the short trip to Queens, N.Y. to take on St. John's. Match time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Updated notes and a preview will be released on Friday.

HONOR ROLL FOR SCHROEDER
Senior Danielle Schroeder was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second time this season on Monday. The outside hitter reached double-figures in kills in all three matches last week.   Against Xavier, Schroeder had 13 kills and a season-high four services aces. She collected 12 kills and five blocks against Butler, and led Seton Hall with 10 kills at Villanova on Tuesday.

The Hall defeated Xavier in four sets, 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 25-18, 25-22), on Saturday. Sophomore Abby Thelen led the Pirates with 17 kills to go with seven digs. Danielle Schroeder and Cherise Hennigan also reached double-figures in kills.

Sophomore Cherise Hennigan erupted for a career-high 23 kills in Seton Hall's five-set victory over Butler on Sept. 23. Her previous high was 16 kills, which was recorded five times, most recently against Towson on Sept. 3 of this year. She also had two blocks and two digs against the Bulldogs.

With 43 assists vs. Butler on Sept. 23, sophomore Sophia Coffey moved past former Pirate Nichole Bushroe for eighth on the all-time list. She needs 571 more to pass Beata Jastrzembski for seventh on the list.

The Pirates rallied from two sets down to defeat Rutgers in Piscataway in the finale of the Rutgers Invitational on Saturday. Four Pirates reached double figures in kills, led by 17 from Dani Schroeder. Sophia Coffey had a season-high 46 assists. Collectively, the Pirates had a season-high .329 attack percentage.

DOUBLE... DOUBLE-DOUBLE
For the first time this season, two Pirates collected double-doubles in Seton Hall's five-set victory at Rutgers. Sophomore Sophia Coffey had a season-high 46 assists to go with 13 digs. She also had seven kills and no attack errors. Grace Forren registered 11 kills and career-highs of 14 digs and five blocks.

PIRATES WIN BLUE RAIDER BASH
Seton Hall lost only one set over the three matches of the Blue Raider Bash, defeating Illinois State in four sets and sweeping both Tennessee Tech and host Middle Tennessee State. It is Seton Hall's first road tournament championship since winning the Carmichael Invitational at Rhode Island in 2012.

Senior Tessa Fournier was unanimously named to the 2016 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. A three-time AVCA All-Region honoree, Fournier was named BIG EAST Libero of the Year for a second consecutive season in 2015, and led the BIG EAST in both digs (583) and digs per set (5.16).

Seton Hall was picked seventh in this year's BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll. Creighton was the unanimous conference favorite, followed by Marquette and Xavier. The Pirates have outplayed their expectations in each of the last two seasons under head coach Allison Yaeger. In 2014, The Hall was picked to finish sixth, but placed second. In 2015, they were picked sixth, but finished fifth.Â

Seton Hall will have two regular season matches broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network, a Nov. 12 date at Marquette followed by a Nov. 19 home game vs. St. John's. Should the Pirates qualify for the BIG EAST Championship, the semifinal round will also be carried on BEDN.
